ZILLA: (How-To) *REAR FOG LIGHT WITH BRAKE LIGHT* MOD!
Check it out. I made the red triangle reflector fuctional as a fog light AND a brake light.
I bought (2) 194 bulb sockets and went to work. http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...brz/photo1.jpg Marked 2 holes. http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...brz/photo2.jpg Dremel'd holes out. http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...brz/photo3.jpg Holes completed. http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...brz/photo4.jpg Bulb sockets inserted snug into the 2 holes. http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...brz/photo5.jpg http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...brz/photo6.jpg The housing has been installed and OEM reverse light wiring and new fog light/brake light wiring all zip tied together with protection. http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...brz/photo7.jpg I ran the (+) wire from each 194 bulb to the driver side tail light harness. The green wire is the regular tail light. The red wire is the brake light. The ground wires went to the OEM ground location in the trunk. http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...brz/photo9.jpg Headlights on (One 194 bulb is on in the fog light): http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...rz/photo10.jpg Brakes on (2nd 194 bulb in the fog light comes on): http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...rz/photo11.jpg At night this looks amazing. The camera wouldnt capture just how red and bright the lights really are. You need to see it in person to appreciate how nice it looks. Feel free to ask any questions. ENJOY! I forgot to mention, I was originally going to do this with a single 1157 bulb (dual filament, non LED), but after running it with just one filament on, it was far too hot to touch after only 10 seconds, so it would definitely melt the light housing since the bulb would have been around 1/2 inch from the housing once installed. So that it why I opted to do with dual 194's.

LED would be a good choice, too. Cheap enough on eBay.
|
LED doesn't get too hot in either configuration.

Very nice and clean job!

What's the part number for the sockets, all I can make out it Dorman? Those fit perfectly.
|
The rear fog light is not intended to be a "4th brake light", it should be wired to the front fogs or a dedicated switch. Write-up is good but it would make more sense to have the rear fog light as a functional modification.

easy DIY! looks great!

I think we are all forgetting something and that is if this a 4th or 3rd brake light, doesn't that mean we can legally remove the brake light in the back window?
