100 hp/l NA engines

This came up in another thread. It's an interesting topic; let's continue the discussion here.

But here's the clif notes version (as I understand it); there are only five manufactures currently manufacturing Naturally Asperated engines for automobiles which produce or exceed 100HP per 1 Liter of displacement

BMW: the V8 currently powering the E90/E92 M3

Ferrari: a bunch of their engines meet or exceed this figure, they also currently hold the HP per L world record for a production engine with the monster they are putting in the 458

Porsche: their 3.8 liter flat six in the 911

Subaru: the 2.0L boxer in the FT86 platform cars

Toyota: the 1.8L engine previously installed in the Celica GT-S and currently purchased by Lotus for the Elise/Exige in the U.S. market

One from the past is BMW's S54: 3.2l tuned to make 315hp in the Z3 M Roadster/Coupe MY 2001-2 and 340hp in the E46 M3.

Are there others? Anyone know more about the engines listed?

I completely forgot about this topic (thanks for picking up the slack pal) ...

LFA's 1LR-GUE is a 4.8L V10 making roughly 560PS.

On another note, Honda isn't part of this list now…probably the first time in over 20 years!

They lost it.

Dozens and dozens of Hondas from the past.

I thought the fq400 Evo 8's hold the record for most hp per l. I think they made 450hp for a 2.0 engine.

Yeah. That's exactly the problem.

I seems that the high horse power small displacement N/A motor is going the way of the Dodo. If that's really the case it's sad because I like their rev happy nature but it's an entering achievement not many aspire to these days

I forgot to add an honorable mention which should have been on my list.

I know there might be other motors currently in production that that come close.

All of the current versions of the K20 are 2.3L so that motor misses the mark too...
