6/29 Spokes Autocross SA Raceway

Going to my first Autocross event with my father (he is bringing his Miata, his first Automotive sporting event of any kind). I had my maiden voyage in chump car last year at TSM, time for the virgin run in Autocross.

Wondering if anybody else from here is going to make it, and if so any tips on additional things to bring. Already went out and nabbed a cheap portable compressor. I have some other useful stuff from my chump car gear. Otherwise I picked up most of the basics that were listed on the Spokes webpage.

Any advice/tips is good advice/tips at this point!

Yeah i would like to get an oil change in before I go actually, my car is actually close to due for a regularly scheduled oil change, but I can't find the time in my schedule for it right now.

From what I heard, autoX doesn't cook the oil quite as much like a track. You'll probably be ok. I've just read and seen people's oil temps that track often pre oil cooler and post oil cooler and it looks like an absolute must. No question for FI, but even N/A the temps get pretty high.

Now the stock radiator is pretty decent. I don't think people give it enough credit for its size and cooling ability. The aftermarket one recovers temps faster, but does not make it run cooler. That's the only advantage is has and with the ability to run a liquid to liquid oil cooler through a larger radiator I suppose.

Autox doesn't really cook your oil. You run hard 40-60 seconds every 15ish minutes for 4-6 runs.

Turkish and I should be there.
They have an air compressor on site so its not really necessary unless you want to play around with pressures while you're doing your runs.

Things I typically bring:
Tools to change tires, or anything else that might break.
Sunblock
Food/water
Umbrella
Chairs
Water sprayer
Painters tape

If its your first time, don't worry too much. There are always several people that its going to be their first time as well.

I'll be hitting up the next one at the end of the month also. Looking forward to dodging some cones again. It's been a while since I've had a car and not a 4x4.

Was hoping to get some info on local meets/clubs in Austin when I saw this thread but with 1XX pages there's no way I can read through it all. If anyone wants to pm me any info I'd appreciate it. Always down to meet like minded individuals who enjoy driving and wrenching.

Ok, definitely saw a Blue FR-S/BRZ walking back from one building to another at Schwab on the Oak Knoll Drive service road. Saw tail lights, and heard a slight exhaust.

Surely someone on here, unless my memory is just terrible.

They (radium) are great from what I could tell but generic ones like I installed are better bang for the buck. For the install, its awkward to get the hoses where they need to go but not difficult.
