Start with 33/31 and figure it out for your setup from there.

It will be the least one more once I eventually register... I'll take all the luck!

Thanks for the BFG pressures, I'm going to try them for the first time at Nats.

Go harder in the sweepers than you would on the Bridgestones. Also, turn in will be slower. And they're wider than the stones. Noticeably so.

That sounds like they'll suit me well, but I've been on Kumhos all this year since I corded my Bridgestones. I did okay on the original rival a coupe years ago.

I hope CS and DS have similar run conditions to get a gauge on where we stand in Lincoln.

Not sure if you were talking about Bristol, but if you were:

CS had crazy rain+standing water and small flowing rivers on course. (2nd heat Champ Tour day one..DS got dry for all their runs) Day 2 was dry for CS and DS but DS got warm pavement.

I had issues with the bumpy surface that led to me underdriving until the second heat of the Match Tour. Once I accepted that the car was going to move around a lot, (and stopped trying to keep the car "smooth" everywhere) I think I made a better data point. The car wasn't off the pace (CS) before the second heat of the Match Tour, I was.

Wolf was on fire in DS for day 2 of the Champ Tour but ran a Vette for the Match. (He said he intends to run a Vette at Nationals.)

Wolf is done with DS, they'll either be in a STX RX8 temporarily until they can secure a C5Z for AS.

The lot was extremely bumpy, but being smooth equaled being fast. Trying to hamfist the car (at least for me) led to cones and not any faster time

I re-read what I wrote there and not sure I understand what I was saying... I think I meant at Nats this year? Thanks for the recap! It seemed like the WRX worked well at that venue in DS. I still think there are some oddball DS cars that could be superb if anyone tries them, but it seems to be most of the same cars we expected in DS.

It sounds like this is a lot where the good shocks make an even bigger difference (assuming you know the knobs to turn)?

I did get a chance to play around in PA with Simmons and a few other DS FRS/BRZs last Sunday, but I was still a couple tenths off on very old Kumhos and TRD springs vs. their Bridgestones/BFGs. I have pretty high hopes for the BFGs, but I found a set of slightly used RE71Rs just in case.

I started off trying to keep the car "slithering" with no sudden movements and kept lifting or even brushing the brake pedal to keep the car from jumping around over the bumps. The car looked "smooth" but it was slow.

Once I changed my approach, I still tried to keep my *inputs* smooth. I just stopped trying to "correct" all the movement that came from hitting the bumps at speed. My cone-proximity was meh but my speed-maintenance instantly improved and my times were finally at the pointy end of CS.

So would anyone be willing to compare times on the test n tune course at Toledo? This will be my first national event and I have only had the car since February.

Brian Killourhy of Colorado region beat Scroggs at the Packwood Pro this weekend in DS. It was a *great* battle.
