Legally speaking the exhaust should have zero effect on warrantying the HPFP. That doesn't mean a dealer won't give you shit for it. It depends on the dealer, some have gotten warranty for blown engines with a car that's clearly track prepped (slicks, roll cage, buckets, exhaust etc.) some have been denied due to an aftermarket air filter (not for this specific 'issue' just an example).

Either you're the first to bring it to their attention or they're playing stupid.

My dealer appeared to have no idea either, but I kinda find it hard to believe if they've sold more than... 10 brzs? Atleast one of those would come back with crickets. Maybe corporate is telling dealers to shut up about it.

I typically know more than the service people going in and explaining the issue to them simply because I open an internet browser and research. Gotta get that knowledge!

Do you research how to do your own job better when you get home? Probably not. I know I don't/can't.

Well, if they were doing their job right, they would have up to date information on a car's problems and read it from the computer. I wouldn't expect them to know everything, but to at least maybe even check on something or acknowledge it exists would be nice.

No arguments there.

Be sure and get the part number to share when they change it.

Also quick question,
My car is nearly stock (aside from the few cosmetic changes here and there). I'm itching to get an exhaust system in the near future. Assuming there will be a fix for this, would it be wise to wait on modifying the exhaust until after the fix has been released? I have the same exact experience.
I was an all Chevron guy, until I own this car.
The shell gas does reduce the chirp by a bit.
and it became extremely loud on monday right after I filled in a gallon of chevron 91 due to low on gas and only one near by is Chevron.
It died down again after filling with shell and driove for another 100 mile....

The flipside is that many people read rumors online and expect service centers to act on them. There's nothing wrong with a dealer following the manufacturer's suggested course of action for situations like this. The problem lies with the manufacturer for not providing a solution in a timely manner.
