Mine fell off too. Took the dealer over a week to get the new mounting plate but I'm getting it fixed tomorrow. Hopefully this one stays.

So mine had one of the screws stripped that holds the silver piece to the mounting plate. I still reinstalled all the screws with blue loctite and thus far the vibration and annoying noise are gone.

Can anyone pipe in on the FR-S mirror. Do they have home link, or is this a BRZ exclusive?

It is a port installed accessory on the BRZ. I am not sure if you can order it from the dealer, but you can definitely buy one and install it yourself.

Mine fell off the windshield today as well (BRZ w/ homelink). I noticed the mirror was drooping, went to adjust it upwards and it was completely loose. I now have a great view of the back seat and I'm honestly not sure what's holding it up now besides the cord.

Edit: Both screws holding the mounting plate together were stripped. The bottom one had fallen out completely, and the top one was pretty much hanging on by a single thread. I can get it all back together, but the stripped screws won't hold the weight of the mirror. The mounting plate itself includes a loose clip that is designed to stay loose; I imagine that's the source of mirror vibration that people complain about. The whole thing is a completely terrible design.

Offtopic and thread jack, but is that a custom fit carpet over the dashboard?

My temporary solution while i wait for my service appointment:

A Broadway mirror connected to my windshield with my iOttie phone holder. My Homelink is taped to the dash for good measure.

This happened to me yesterday. I went to the local dealer, who said he has seen this a lot. However, he had no parts for the BRZ in stock to fix it. I even called the Scion dealers to see if they had parts. I'm waiting on the parts to show up. My mount base aluminum crap is stripped. I thought it was funny, I bought a new car to avoid things falling apart while driving... Then THIS!!!

I just got some longer screws(ever so slightly longer) and some loctite super glue. Seems like a good temp (almost permanent) fix. Probably better than replacing it with the OEM soft aluminum base just to have it happen again.

Its a stupid design, but its law as far as i know. All cars now have shearable fittings for the mirror so they do not harm you during an accident. From what i understand, they were installed at the port this way, roughly, probably with power tools and they exceeded the tq spec of the screw/plate. When i went to my dealership he told me enough of the cars that have that home-link upgrade were coming back that they might as well just re-do it on all the cars that come in for service just to make sure. Even the other subaru models are effected.
