that yellow thing looks like the oil filter for a ej25 engine! well now we know it does have an engine! cool.

Toyota's press conference is tomorrow at 10:30am EST so I'll be sure to report back right after with the info they share... hopefully there'll be some new info since this is now the 3rd major show that an FT-86 has been shown at. I would love to hear some official confirm when they will go to production on this car and how close/far to the concept car it will be.

It might be difficult to tell from this photo, but there are actually what appears to be red lighting elements/bulbs inside the cover. It definitely looks like it could be brake lights. Has anyone ever noticed in the Gran Turismo videos if that light lights up when braking?

Unfortunately, it appears that it's just for show. See the following photos. The first one shows what looks like a solid covering in the vent, and the second photo shows that there's no vent or access from the front wheel well to the vent. The wheel well liner is solid.

no way a carbon fiber diffuser is making it on a 20 thousand dollar car... or the carbon mirrors or carbon center caps on the wheels ect.

on the front bumper pics of the vent.. the middle piece looks like its clear, maybe thats for the left and right indicators??

Hmm, that would be pretty cool, but idk how well that would be seen. The car is already very low and placing a turn signal that low on the car.

I'm thinking its just a temp. engine, looking at the placement of the yellow thing that fernan2 says is the oil filter, it is def. in front of the front axle. So it is either a temp engine that they don't care the placement, or it is the real engine and they are giving room for an AWD tranny, which I highly doubt. I don't think we will see toyota making an AWD variant.

They will be changing that filter placement for production, likely has a dummy engine. There would be another recall for the number of people ruining their engines by tearing off a filter in that location.

Red light in the back is probably the rear fog light.
