Have you tried removing the engine cover? I am still hoping the GS bar will fit.

Since you've got the blocks installed and you've got a GS brace already, see how much taller it would need to be in order to fit. Maybe @GrimmSpeed could make a high clearance version of their bar.

its a very tight fit with the engine cover off so I'm not even going to bother with it.

I have no idea how much of a bending moment that would introduce or whether it would be significant but I don't like the idea of a raised bar. (Did you notice I made no lewd comment?)

From what @Vic has said it sounds like it maybe possible to grind a trough across the inlet manifold to allow the GS bar to fit.

A number of strut tower bars aren't flat across the top. Cusco, FT86SF, and Whiteline, to name a few. I don't think normal body flex would put enough stress on the angles to cause flex or failure.

Don't think its worth it to do all that sh**t for just a strut bar. LOL just saying...

Sounds like what I went through. Forgot about the hose during start up and died. And as stated, driver's side was PITA!! So far my vacuum hose has held up being zip tied. Oh and I broke my stupid engine cover. How much are those things anyways?

  • Approximate highway gas mileage is the same. I'm running wide tires for street, and with winter blend fuel I'm averaging around 28-29MPG.
  • City mileage seems to be slightly worse. Not really attributing this to anything other than perhaps a bit more liberal with gas pedal on streets, but my driving style hasn't changed much. Should be noted that the decrease in fuel economy includes the ~60 miles worth of dyno pulls that was done testing both the Crawford pieces, as well as 3 different Ark Design exhaust systems for MotoIQ.
  • 5 tanks prior to install of CPB: 1111 miles, 1 track day @ Big Willow, 24.35MPG
  • 5 tanks after install of CPB: 865 miles, 1 track day @ Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, 23.46MPG
  • Car definitely feels faster on streets. Throttle response 3500-5000 and above 6000 is great, with no difference in exhaust note or engine noise. My engine currently is stock with no mods.

Hope this is enough data to help.
Just did a 28.7MPG tank of gas, matching my best mileage since I put on my aftermarket wheels. Around 90% freeway driving with the A/C on.

So far it seems that with a stock ECU, there's zero change in gas mileage consumption.

Installed the blocks last night but just got to test the car...

MUCH better! There's definitely a small torque increase before the dip. The dip itself is narrowed significantly and continues to pull through about 7k rpm, which is where I shift, anyway. These BPBs seem to make more of a tq/hp increase than my header did, which was noticeable, too.

Good bang for the buck? .. Definitely
