There's different grades like blue, black, grey, orange. I had read that FIPG was designed to meet or exceed the most stringent of tests and temperatures compared to the basic stuff. It also doesn't expand, spread or apply the same way normal RTV does. FIPG is designed specifically to replace certain gaskets where normal RTV simply isn't. Used properly FIPG shouldn't find it's way into the cooling system like typical use of normal RTV silicone would.

On VW & Porsche engines (similar split case boxer layout), it has been known for 30 years that you never need to use silicone or RTV anywhere when assembling the engine.
We use a Hylomar or Kuril type of non-hardening sealant that doesnt present as much risk of clogging oil passages.

New motor is much quieter than original. Virtually no valve train noise. New computer has different tune for sure. Fuel mileage down a couple mpg and high rpm up shifts aren't as harsh and tire chirping as before. Fuel and timing. Car isn't slower, just feels smoother over all.

I have a NA EJ25. It sucks. I have absolutely no idea why you'd want that unless you forgot to put "factory turbo" in your statement.

Except with a list of:
10:1
no DI
turbo

One of them pretty much has to go.

I don't know if someone already posted it since this thread is already pretty long, but MotoIQ did a pretty interesting article about the Crawford Billet Power Block

Compromises, compromises. This car was really engineered to a price point. Next someone will come up with a manifold good for 20 horse and we'll all be selling our shit for pennies on the dollar. Really, I see this thing creeping towards 215 dynojet power.

Did an ecu reset and was pleasantly surprised. Car is smooth and quick, much better than original. Careful assembly, different tune? These cars seem to wake up right when fuel gage hits 1/4 tank. I can't believe this is due to weight alone.
