Then go for it. 17x9 with a 255 Z2 or a 245 RS3 (probably my preference) is my recommendation

Regarding BBKs: when they say "larger than stock" does that include rotor diameter AND thickness or just diameter?

Quote:
14.6 E: STX and STU: Non-standard brake rotors may be used provided
they are of equal or larger dimensions (diameter and thickness)
and made of ferrous material (e.g. iron). Thickness includes the individual
plates of a vented rotor, as well as the overall dimension.
Aluminum rotor hats are allowed. Cars originally equipped with solid
(non-vented) rotors may utilize vented rotors. Cross-drilled and/or
slotted brake rotors may be fitted provided all such voids are within
the disc area, and comprise no more than 10% of that area. Brake
calipers and mounting brackets may be replaced provided they bolt
to the standard locations and the number of pistons is equal to or
greater than standard. A functioning emergency brake of the same
type, operation, and actuation as OE must be present. Drum brakes
may be replaced with disc brakes of a diameter equal to or greater
than the inside diameter of the standard drum. Such conversions
must be bolted, not welded, to the axle/trailing arm/upright, and must
include an integral, redundant emergency brake. Changes to backing
plates/dust shields/brake lines to accommodate these changes
are permitted but may serve no other purpose.

TL;DR, both thickness and diameter.

every dimension. The closest argument you can maybe try to it being a thinner total space, but also a smaller vane which makes it equivalent metal. And that's still requiring a well made on the spot argument with a PC that may not agree.

I went thru that when I first got my car. I thought I had found the ultimate BBK kit...Lighter, Bigger Diameter, Affordable, Hella stopping power. then I looked at the Rotor and it was thinner than stock.. Every other aspect was well within the rules. Determined that the kit was 'NOT' legal for my application and sold it immediately to another member here. Ended up with a Better BBK that is WELL within the Rules and I don't have to worry about it. It ended up being lighter as well and WAY better Stopping power.

Most kits are out of my price range so I will stick to pads for now. My car likely wont ever have any power adders anyway.

Which kit?

I was looking at the AP Sprint kit.
I thought the rules started it had to be as big or bigger?..

Oh and btw @Scooby South that chart you sent and the advice you gave worked amazingly! The car is getting there slowly.. but the difference between Saturday and Sunday was worlds better!
Thanks again.

Cool glad it worked out .. how did you do.. or better yet how did the car do??

And you are Correct.. as big or bigger. the first one that wasn't legal was a Wilwood kit, the rotors were too thin. Min Width on our rotors is 22mm, The Wilwood kit was 18mm width. Currently I have StopTech kit.. which is 28mm thick.. So no worries

I took 3rd. I'm happy with it considering its the first race in the car AND the first race ever in a RWD car after 11 years in FWD.
The back end felt much better! I've got a larger front bar en route along with a bunch more goodie for more grip so hopefully she'll fly next event haha

The Biggest thing for me was learning to trust the car. Glad it worked out. Congrats.

Here's a question for anyone running a strut tower bar... are they worth it? Does it have a noticeable effect on the handling of the car when pushed hard through a turn? Tried searching for an answer but all I could find was legality discussions, which were obviously answered. I just don't want to spend money for the sake of it.

No one Nationally that I know of is running one.. Personal opinion, It binds the front end up so it doesn't turn as well ... I could see the rear one helping stiffen the rear end up.. With the factory front braces already there. They seem to be sufficient for stiffness.
Again, My opinion.

Thanks. I kind of figured as much but wanted some more experience to chip in.
