Moth outside window. Olympus OMD M1 iii, 12-100mm

Original pic High Resolution Mode at 10368 x 6912. Cropped, dust removal, resized before posting. I'm happy with result although there is a slight amount of kitchen light reflection in the top right part of the pic. Ah well.

Spring has finally showed up around here, which means birds waking me up early,
some grass to cut, rediscovering I have a BBQ, enjoy washing the car and
most of all getting up early to go see some rolling entertainment up north:

I have noticed there was no more old legend weekends scheduled for the past few years. When I questioned the track staff
it was due to the sound rules and most of the very old racing cars would be non compliant, that explained why most of
the teams present had a box out full of silencers & mufflers they were actively installing. (See the Triumph as example...)

Had a good day with my brother & friends and had a good surprise that the circuit let us all in free so made the trip up there even sweeter.

Great shots, though.

I agree about the photos.
This looks like fun.

As for the sound issues, You have to understand the people in that part of Quebec and Quebec laws. I don't, but was subject to all of it every time the Ducati Owners Club of Canada had a track weekend there.
The place was a hot spot for winter sports that became "the" place to see and be seen at in the summer. Lots of big $ houses, ski chalets, hotels etc. and the wannabes that follow. Yep, they bought/built near a race track and knew that racing causes traffic jams and lots of noise. The local businesses liked the money generated by the track but not at the expense of their other, year round clientele.
It's one of the main reasons why Lawrence Stroll, YES! That Lawrence Stroll, finally sold the place. I hope the new owners are able to keep the natives happy. It is a fun track to go around on or in any type of powered vehicle.

That whole area really got built up over the years. My cousin just sold her lakeside cottage in St Donat just the next village over,
they had picked it up 30 years ago and I don’t hear her complaining of their retirement cash flow anymore.

Sorry to have to spam this thread again but am retired & this week has been very busy for me.

I just had to shoot (in a Canadian way, no guns here) a few birds earlier in the week but they kind of flew away not liking my company.
Have to keep that trigger finger happy and a long walk in the swamp keeps me sane,
last year at this time I was just starting to walk again after a month on crutches due to arthritic knees... What a difference a year makes.

Friday night I came upon a race I did not know was happening:
Just had to pull out my forgotten 10MM for some close up fun.

Typical local class act for the area:

The race weekend was cancelled for saturday and sunday pm due to high winds.

There seems to be a 15$ sale on for bud light for some reason?

Anyone have a caption for that one?
Anyone have a recent funny picture to share?

Was at quite a few old cars shows this summer.
Some of my faves:

I had taken out my 44 yr old 135 F/2.8 for some exercise for this ‘68 Gordini.

24mm F/8 1/50s

Wonder if it could fit the BRZ?

Mid Engine R5 Turbo w/10mm

TBird

Im a bit late to answer, The Class act comment was for that local specimen drinking beer.
The town that hosted the event is a renowned Hell Angels hangout & while
I walked back to my car I was asked where the closest beer store could be found twice!
I guess I need a haircut & beard trimmed not to be mistaken as someone who should know that.

I could never figure out what the class of hydroplane boat I was looking at.

It depends on the sanctioning body what the class is called. The American Powerboat Association and the Canadian Hydroplane leagues have similar class structures based on engine size. The biggest and fastest they run are the Grand Prix Hydroplanes. Powered by a blown Chevy based V8 of IIRC 468 cu. In. displacement. Just by looking at the size of headers I’d say that’s what the photos are of.

H1's are the Unlimited Hydroplanes using turbine or V12 aircraft engines. They have their own sanctioning body.
I remember standing on the banks of the Detroit river in 1961 watching those beasts race. Back then they were designated "U" for obvious reasons.

Some photos from our recent trip to the south. Kudzu vines cover large areas of the landscape. It’s eerie looking when you come across a property left vacant and everything is covered in Kudzu. Like the Virginia Opossum that is now found thriving in Ontario so too is Kudzu.
The big water fall is called Dry Falls. Funny, every year we’ve been to see it there has been a lot of rain and it’s never dry. Bridal Veil Falls on the other hand has always been just a trickle. Both can be found on #64 just outside of Highlands NC.

Curiously, Kudzu is not a native plant and it's very invasive. Railroads planted them for erosion control.
