Pressure vent?

http://www.mytoyotapartsstore.com/sc...&position=left

There's one of these on each side of the car behind the rear wheel wells. They have little rubber flaps that make a fairly loud buzzing sound with a subwoofer in the trunk. It's easy enough to pop out the rubber flaps and no more buzzing, but I'm curious what they are actually doing (yes, something related to pressure!) and if it's anything to concern myself with at all. Anyone know?

Thank you!

Yep, they are to vent the cabin pressure.

When I'm driving alone, they close to keep out road noise ....... when mrs humfrz is riding with me, they open up to allow hot air to vent from the cabin ......

Just to revive this, I bought mine used and was putting bumper clips into areas that were missing and found this just chillin in the bumper (fell out of it's place). Is it hurtful to not put it back in? Or is it advisable to put it back in?

Thanks!

UMMMM They are just little one way flaps that only flutter when you close the trunk so they are not doing squat for heat. Also the fact that they are in the bottom of the car doesn't do much for heat either.

I meant pressure created from heat lol, you don't remember the hot air blast from old ass cars when all was closed on a sunny day and you opened the door? (like a small hurricane of pass out heat lol)

None of my old cars were sealed well enough to build pressure! You couldn't have built pressure in them with a blast furnace.

Yep, for starters, two of the "pressure relief valves" were where the clutch and brake pedals went through the floor board .......
