I guess the Celica GT-S which I think had 180hp would be a better comparison. I will probably sell in the new year and use the funds towards a new Asphalt Monogram FR-S if or when they are available. In the meantime I will test drive a BRZ |

That video reminds me of just how modern the 7th gen Celica styling was (and kind of still is). I miss all 3 of my previous 7th gen Celica's

The day I test drove a BRZ, I bought one up front. It was totally not my plan but that's what happened. Just BE CAREFUL! It's literally love at first drive.

Lol I love when people talk shit about the gts. Especially mine.
the 86 twins are a definite upgrade over celica gt. As 4 Frs vs gts .... besides the definite handling advantage it feels like the frs can launch from a stop better. The celica is a bit lighter. But other than that it is just drivers skill imo. If they ever do a motor upgrade for the frs, I would think they would up the price as well. |

honestly i would bet anything that they don't make a version of this car that has more power. it wouldn't make any sense, everyone who had one before would be super pissed off. i bet you they are just going to make small cosmetic changes to the interior and exterior.
if they do make a version with more power i bet you it would be for the japanese market only, and they would only make a handful of them. |

The 2.5L is an idea but is not confirmed nor will it be available that soon (if it comes out at all). There is talk that the earliest release of a 2.5L 86 would maybe be around 2015, but I imagine that it will mostly like come out as a 2nd gen

If this is the case, would you suggest I wait for a better engine FR-S and continue driving my Celica or trade up when the Monogram is released

Well you can look at this in a few ways...
If you continue to drive your Celica till a 2.5L comes out, if it does which could be 2+ year, then the Celica's trade in value will be far less than it is currently. If you trade in your Celica now for a Monogram FRS you will probably be happy with the transition. I mean your basically going from (give or take) 110 whp to 160 whp which is a pretty big jump. If you include the more modern, superior handling that is also a huge bonus. Lastly, you are topping off the trade-in for a brand new car with interior and tech accessories. Trade in value for a Monogram FRS should fair well in the next 2 years as well. Again this is all assuming they come out with a 2.5L. You also have to ask yourself (COMPLETELY hypothetical) What if in a few years the 2.5L never comes out and they discontinue the FRS, wouldn't you have wished you got the Monogram when you could have? |
