Thanks guys. I have been knocking this one around for a while. Probably a nice spring reno project for me.

I had been contemplating the quick shifter mod, but the desire went away after I bought a weighted shift knob. Now I absolutely love the throw and how the gearbox feels on the FR-S.

I love my Kartboy shifter, I would highly recommend it! I have never tried the Toyota quick shifter.

I had the Toyota quick shifter put on a couple of weeks ago. I really like the feel shifting now- shortens the throw just the right amount and retains the stock shifter height in the car.

Just be sure not to tear the boot during install- the mechanics at Toyota actually went through 2 of them during the install.

I have the TRD Quick Shifter. I like it, but it felt even better after a transmission oil switch to Motul 300 and changing to a heavier shift knob. I drove a stock BRZ a couple months ago, and I was quickly reminded on how different the stock feel is to what I'm used to now.

Have it and love it, slight notchiness but not severe. Just love the quicker shifts.

I will be flamed but I cannot in good conscience recommend the TRD adapter. After struggling a few times with a VERY poor fitment/tolerance issue, a friend and I finally cut our losses and returned his shift lever back to stock. He had purchased his car from a private party with the kit already installed.

In his case, the channel at the top of the adapter, which is supposed to fit around the lever above the bushing housing, was way too shallow. Instead of cinching up nicely as the bolt was tightened, the adapter ended up cocked at an angle and could never be properly tightened.

I ground out the channel as far as I safely could but it just wasn't enough. It's just a wildly unrealistic design considering it's supposed to fit perfectly over a weldment.

This is where the red locktite comes in. Since the adapter cannot properly seat against the shoulder of the bushing housing, the bolt is destined to work itself loose as the assembly heat cycles. That's just bullshit in my book.

If you really want a short shifter, get the Kartboy or the JDM short shift lever. I didn't know the latter existed.

I have one. I question whether or not my shifts are actually quicker though...
It did not introduce any problems, Im just not sure if I can recognize the benefit
