So you think you know engines?
This is a sinister fun sort of thread. Attached is a dyno plot. Same dyno, same operator, SAE corrected, but four different engine configurations.
Here are the first hints: The 4 plots all the exact same engine displacement, tire size, using the same 93 octane fuel. No tricks like Meth, N2O, iced intake. Here's your challenge. Name the four different configurations based solely on the power curve. Experienced piston heads will be able to spot the 4 configurations without much effort. If you guys need more hints, I'll ration them out so as not to give it away too quickly. Go!

Define "Different engine configurations."
Stock, tuned NA, SC (roots, twin-screw, centri?), Turbo?

Also personally I hate dyno sheets that aren't in rpm...
Is it a bike motor?

It's not making 1100HP, so it can't be a 2JZ...

Nope, they're small automotive engines. The blue plot redlines at 6,500 RPM.
LOL, correct. Unless it was only one cylinder! *wink*

Red stock (2ZZGE? Since you are a Lotus guy...)
Blue that matches the shape of red 2ZZGE positive SC? Not having rpm is throwing me off. 6600 is ~ 107 mph?

-->bambbrose: You got the Dark Blue plot correct! Bolt-on's with ECU tune. The ECU tune explains the noticeably higher redline. Ok, I'll be honest, those were the two easy ones. You need to think more critically for the other two. :happy0180:

The other two are the same engine but turbocharged. One of them on the low profile the entire time, the other on the high profile cam the entire time? Each locked out for tuning purposes. Just throwing out an idea. |
