Hey whatsup man! Check out 86drive.com. Theres a calendar of every single event thats hosted in the Norcal area. Not too many drives being hosted right now due to the weather. I'll be hosting a few myself when it dries up. Hope to see you at a meet soon!

Well it's been pretty quiet here lately. I guess I can thank the weather for that and with two more storms lined up I guess it will be a couple more weeks.

Yup. It'll probably be a while for the roads to recover. We got spoiled with the drought letting us drive year round lol

Not usually one to shy away from rainy day drives but as Finch mentioned, a lot of the roads are either covered in rocks & branches, flooded (more so in my neck of the woods) or just closed (in the case of Skyline, just plain gone).

I actually went out for a morning drive in Salmon Falls in Folsom last Sunday. Of course, it was the single sunny day of that week so everybody was out enjoying the weather. I may just try again this weekend since there is a "chance of showers". Guaranteed I won't be stuck behind Harleys again

Ya I had to drive to SF last weekend and HWY 37 was still closed. Got routed around and was late for my appointment.

it is technically not a cruise or meet, but a number of the 86 track junkies will be at Laguna Seca this Saturday all day for the season opening event of 86CUP. Spectators are welcome and some of the participants will have garages reserved so there will be someplace to hang out away from the rain (bring a folding chair!)

** Of course I wouldn't condone driving in these wet conditions ** but I found the backroads of Livermore quite docile and forgiving. Perhaps the lay of land here (rolling hills) vs. the typical mountain sides are less likely to erode, wash from underneath, and/or produce mudslides and large amounts road debris. I'm no geologists tho.

This weekend's test driving here on new GT Radials made for exciting speed, braking, and overall feel of the tires (and non-86 car) quite invigorating. I felt alive again hahaha. TBH, ~300 miles (since Thursday last week) on new tires and I was more frightened on Redwood Road/Oakland (1x) than I was in Livermore (2x).

Any idea on how many miles before they're broken in? I've always wondered about this.

Tire Rack says a whopping 500 miles: "Five hundred miles of easy acceleration, cornering and braking will allow the mold release lubricant to wear off, allowing the other tire components to begin working together."

That kind of surprises me. When I last drove Mines at the end of December there was a fair amount of road debris and a couple of small water crossings. And that was before the rain really started coming down.

Looks more like Tesla Rd. or some of the farm roads north of Livermore.

My dad, who was an engineer for Goodyear, always said 300-500 miles, so that sounds about right.
