oil pressure

hi
since i dont have oil pressure sensor ,i would like to know from your guys knowledge(from who tried that)
i usually use 5-30 motul Xclean oil .
and want to compare that one to the 300V (which is obviously better)BUT-
is anyone tested it around the track and checked the oil pressure of those two(or any other avg/conventional oil with the 300v?)
at 240-270F temp .
cheers

Although I didn't check oil pressure in our cars I trust what oils Subaru and Toyota sell for hard/race use that are >5W40 viscosity no matter what each one writes here!
Personally for spirited road driving I use Redline 5W30 that is the thickest oil in this viscosity range with the highest HTHS @3.7 and probably the best additive package (I have lower temp thermostat and plan to fit OEM style oil cooler), even if I had oil cooler I wouldn't use an oil with HTHS lower than 3.5 but this is my personal opinion extracted from my experience with Subaru engines not a guide!

do you have table with the oils HTHS viscosity levels?
or atleast know the Xclean motul's 5-30 and the 300v's 5-30?
pretty much sure the 300v is higher than 3.7

I notice pump cavitation over 5800rpm with 5w30.

Motul 300V has HTHS 3.5 (https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/m...pdf?1492017370) while X-clean 5W30 has 3.6 (https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/m...pdf?1492017850).
And have a look at Redline 5W30 oil analysis using of course translator:
https://www.oil-club.ru/forum/topic/...5w-30-svezhee/
Base number 10.44 (resistance to oxidation), Noack volatility (evaporation loss) 5.3!!!

how come the 300v has lower hths than the xclean?
the 300v aim for 'race driving' isnt it?
maybe the hths isnt a measure of which oil is better @ hard driving conditions?

You are right but HTHS (resistance to shear) is only part of the whole image regarding a very good oil, when Motul states 300V for racing use it means that has increased ZDDP additive package that miss the X-clean (emission rules, catalytic converters, dpf filters) and believe me it knows what it says!
If you track your car you don't mind if the life of your catalytic converter decreases due to oil but if your engine withstands the track, right?

i do care about my cat but i care more about my engine i suppose lol.
performance might be the same for both of the oils.just the life of the engine is the matter here i suppose.
so you say cat might might suffer shorter life while the engine will bloom? lol
think its better ,plus the cat wont die that fast.its might just die sooner (abit i guess)

Motul 300v 5w30. I have an aftermarket pressure gauge. Pressure builds steadily to about 5800 and falls off all the way to redline. Not enough for me to shut it down but it is noticeable. There is a good thread here about oil pressure issues, I may try some of the mods on my other motor to see if it makes a difference.

And is your viscosity responsible for this pressure drop if you use 0W20 oil disappears?
Why this because of the earlier/increased pressure that opens the oil relief valve, oil flow designation or what, is this a phenomenon common with 5W30 oils or specifically with Motul 300V cause the upgraded STI oil IS Motul 300V 5W40!!!

It is worse at optimal oil temps, higher temps just change the point in which I notice pressure drop. It's not as bad with 0w20. If you check that thread I linked others are seeing signs of pumps cavitation as well.

I see, it's a designation of oil suction problem and oil path, what about something like this:

Comparison between OEM and aftermarket oil suction:
