Question different engines for different domestic markets?!

Hey there,

when Toyota introduced the 2nd Gen MR2 there were three different engine specs:

3S-GTE for all markets (J-, EU- and USDM)

but then

3S-GE for JDM and EUDM

and

5S-FE for USDM

So my question is, could this happen to the FR-S/ FT-86 (maybe even Subaru), too?!

They have been speaking about the one FA20 motor.

So I think there will only be one.

Reason for the diff would be Emisions regulations which is why there were diff motors...

This time all countries have kinda the same rules...

So it will be the same motor.

We didnt get the 3S-FE or the 3S-GTE here in the UK. Just the 3S-GE in the SW20 MR2

At the same time, the Gen 6 Celica here in the UK got the 7A-FE, 3S-GE or 3S-GTE. But in Japan they had the 3S-FE instead of the 7A-FE......never figured out the reasoning behind that one....

Sorry, I was wrong! You´re absolutely rigth, Sir! Of course! We never get the 3S-GTE MR2s to EUDM! They only reached JDM and USDM!

Swaping to 3S-GTE became so widespread meanwhile... BTT plz.

No, today nearly all cars have the same engines in all markets (I can't think of any that hasn't).

Why do people register and then just spam the forum with replies to the first 10 topics?

He means a car that is sold in multiple markets, ie BMW 330 has the same 3.0 Straight Six in every market...

He doesn't mean every car in every market uses the same 1 engine
