Mugen tuned K20...270hp, 188 lb-ft torque! That's a whopping 254Nm, 127Nm/L! Take that Ferrari.
Pretty sure that motor is a bored and stroked k20 and no longer 2.0L. I think it's actually 2.2L.

Really? :/ Okay yea google search seems to say it's bored to 2.2L (86mm stroke + 8600rpm is pretty high piston speed). Darn. Not so cool then.

Mugen MF408S -- 4.0l naturally aspirated V8 putting out 590 hp at 9,500 rpm and 383 ft/lbs of torque at 7,500 rpm. Oh, and the entire engine only weighs 289 lbs.

Are there others?
From the past? Lots of them. 100 HP per liter isn't really a big deal anymore because it's been done so much already. I mean, 12 years ago Honda had 120 HP per liter in the S2000.

Sad Honda isn't really a top contender anymore. I'm guessing they are the most capable but..

I'm amazed no one else mentioned that. What are others that haven't been mentioned yet in this thread? I'm always interested in filling gaps in my knowledge base

Yep Although I've heard rumors of a follow-on to the S2k, so maybe there's hope yet

Cool thread - didn't realize just how many manufacturers have eclipsed the 100hp/L mark.

To add to this I have never swapped a Honda engine that didn't make over 100hp/L:

H22A (prelude engine)

K20A (Type R Version) ; K20A2 (Rsx engine)

B16A2 (late model civic engine or JDM) ; B16B (Type R version)

B18C (JDM ITR engine) ; B18C5 (USDM ITR engine)

Also - my current K24 (07' TSX) makes over 250+/2.4L with a completely bone stock engine and simple bolt-ons/tune.

Honda may not have anything worth mentioning currently in this thread but I don't think it will stay that way for too much longer. Having said that - this is one of the major motivators behind my move to Toyota/Subaru - boring ass Honda dropping the ball.

Hehe I have the same hope. Kinda hoping now that Toyobaru has shown the way that others will feel compelled to follow

I hate to be a Debbie-Downer, but I think you might have misrepresented the H22A and K24.

The H22A never had 100hp/l. 220hp was needed, and the closest Honda ever came was 217hp in the JDM 5th Generation Prelude and 6th Generation Accord.

The K24 never had 100hp/l. 240hp was needed, and the closest Honda ever came was 201hp in the 2009+ Acura TSX and Honda Accord and the 2012 Honda Civic Si.

Only the H22A from the type S prelude made 100/L. The regular one was 200 hp at 2.2 Litre.

F20C, F22C from S2000.

K20 from RS Type S

B series like you have.

2ZZ-GE from toyota (Celica gts and others)

If I'm not mistaken quite a few BMW, Audi, Porsche make that N/A.
