Risky, that's direct heat on a concentrated area moments at a time; it won't be evenly distributed. Put it in the oven, much easier and save yourself a lot of time.

DONE! finally. neighbor let me borrow a socket extension

unfortunately i may have made a smudge mark on the low beam or something and apparently its in the same place and somehow the same smudge on both headlights... (UNLIKELY)

when i turn on my headlights both lights reflect a keyhole like outline within but onto the lens... wtf did i do..?

can anyone tell me...? or is it a smudge and i really do have to open them both up to clean it again..?

and if its a smudge, lol..., HOW is it that its on both on the same place on the lens (when on) and both in the shape of a keyhole... wth is going on..?

or is this some illuminati shiet and my headlights unlock some crazy long lost treasure when the keyholes are matched with their respective keys...

sorry im tired but what did i do (the key holes are super obvious unless you within 5 feet of the headlights but still )

cant find anyone with a similar problem

EDIT: BUT IM SO HAPPY WITH THIS. my car looks meaner thanks for the DIY. it was perfect

The "keyhole" defect you're referring to is from the light coming out of the projector and it's normal. It was like that before you opened them up but you probably never noticed it.

Pics would also be helpful if it happens to be something else.

I know there's a few other guys on here who kept a bit of chrome. A red one, a white one, and a black one. I didn't quite like the black-only headlights on the darker cars. Also has a slight BRZish look to the chrome.

Has anyone done this with the winjet headlights? If so does it differ in anyway?

If the winjets are retrofitted, there's no need to do this.

10 series that I painted up and added a halo and demon eyes, left the chrome on a couple places as he didn't want it all black.. Also did satin black

And my winjets retrofitted with mini D2S 3.0 projectors, painted satin, yellow DRL bars, etched lens

I've never baked anything over 200* or longer then 10 mins.. The FRS, BRZ, and 10 series lights pull right apart by hand with 200* and 10 mins
