What you want at the track is *balance*. Car was set up to be neutral, but some tracks (like Thompson CT) are kinda "understeery" while others (like NHMS NH) are kinda "oversteery".

In any case,...

On my 1st-gen I ran 235/45-17 fronts with 245/40-17 rear A052s at the track, and also swapped them and ran 245 fronts...

I would not bet against the OEM header for power. But for midrange, losing the 1st cat and going 4-2-1 with long 2-1 tubes should gain you some midrange. But honestly $$$ might be better spent...

I think what you might *really* want to consider is EL vs. 4->2->1. I think the only benefits of UEL are 1. easier to design and fit a UEL header underneath a flat engine and 2. "boxer rumble".

It's a treadwear rating, lower number doesn't necessarily mean more grip. Tire manufacturers don't really have any requirements on how they rate for treadwear, and of course the super-200s are given...

Great test, but I have to wonder if the 225/45-17 advantage might be partially due to gearing. 215/45-17 and 245/40-17 are the same diameter, 225/45-17 is taller. If the course favored taller...

Don't have any lap time data on 275 vs 255 on an FT86, but I didn't lose much if anything in terms of lap times going from 245/40-17 on 17x9 to 225/45-17 on 17x9...

Put it this way, I was tracking a 550hp LS3 FD RX-7, and after a year competing in time trials with my '17 BRZ, I sold the RX-7. Yeah, 160mph on Andretti Straight at Mosport is cool and all, but I'm...

FA24 heads can breathe in 20% more displacement without choking at the same 7000rpm power-peak, and pull to the same 7400rpm rev-limiter as the FA20, I'd be very surprised the FA20 heads will give...

If raising the car a bit significantly improved front grip, I'm still *guessing* (even more so) it was more of a front bump travel issue!

Going from 15mm to 16mm rear bar (29% stiffer) isn't going to hurt anything and is just about the easiest/cheapest thing to do. Also not likely to help if the issue is really front bump travel and...

If you've been bottoming out the front, IMO that is most of your understeer problem. I'm guessing the Tarmac 2s might have less front bump travel than RCE SS-2 I'm running. I'm at 330F/335R ride...

Akshually...

Wheel rate (what matters) is spring rate x motion ratio *squared*, so with 9 kg/mm springs in back, wheel rate is 9 kg/mm * (0.75)^2 = 5 kg/mm

I don't get why so many suppliers...
