This SB was issued in December. Just wait a couple months those parts will be in stock at every dealer. Parts are almost never available at the release of a SB.
|
I assume this would also work on the FRS?
|
With this being a service bulletin and my car needing the recall should I just ask to fix during the recall ?

A recall would be work performed under warranty regardless of the vehicles age or mileage. A car may have 2 or 3 recalls, there are hundreds of bulletins that could apply to the same car. |
updated post #1 about Japan price.

Service bulletins are not recalls. Generally the way it works is you complain about issue and they will verify the issue and refer to service bulletin for repair procedure. If you go in and say hey there is a service bulletin I want this, they won't do it. We are lucky we have the internet and easy access to service bulletins because in my experience dealers are very secretive about them for some reason. |

I have the gold plus warranty so I think it's still covered

SB are meant to be updates to vehicle repair procedures offered from the factory, nothing more. People on the internet read way more than what it should be. |
So to be clear, if you have a 2016 or newer with less than 36k this repair should be done at no cost to the owner?

The bulletin provides a part and procedure to perform a repair without replacing parts. If you’re under warranty it should be fixed. Sometimes there’s an easy way (with or without a published bulletin). Sometimes it’s the hard way. Also, generally the tech isn’t paid any diagnosis time for a repair under a bulletin (unless the bulletin lays out a diagnostic plan, they love flow charts). The techs keep up with bulletins, and there’s usually a quick way to search for them. Say a car comes in with xy complaint. I can spend an hour figuring it out, determine what parts are needed, then get it fixed. If there’s a bulletin, the repair and parts will be known, no (or very litttle) diag required. |

Is this up anywhere? I can't seem to find it in any online order catalogs yet from Subaru
|
It won't be available in the online catalogs. It 'll be used only as part of the TSB.

How many pieces do you need exactly? I see that you ordered 4. Just want to confirm.
It also looks like they haven't listed the affected VINs in the service bulletin. |

Does your car not have this issue? It is my understanding that EVERY Twin will eventually deal with this. |

Word. Mine looked great for a few thousand miles. I have done the DIY that was posted awhile ago to my car. I am happy. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95624 |

I have: Plowed through 14+ inches of snow several times Bounced it off uncountable drive way entrances, stop logs, speed bumps and anything else protruding more than 3 1/2 inches from the road surface Smacked into a few pieces of truck tire and 2 dead raccoons at speed on the highway All in all just put it through hell and it is still as firm as the day it rolled off the assembly line. Will probably go all to hell when I install my fog lights so I will just have the clips on hand at that point in time. |

Well, you are very lucky. The first month I owned my car and the first time my wife borrowed the FR-S; she hit a chunk of Semi tire. It ripped my bumper off. And since it was so new, no replacement parts were available; they fixed my F-ed bumper and reinstalled it. So, that's why I had a gap. Did the DIY, and now its fixed. I like the buttons; they make it easy to take on and off. I have had my over 6.5 years now. |

I went to the Subaru dealership and they can't find the part numbers on their catalog at all, even did their Subaru Service Board search. They mentioned it might be a Subaru Japan thing only as of now, hence the invoice at the end of the first post

So glad an official "fix" is here..even if it's a few years late
|
OMG
Ordered. Thanks :D |
Me too ;)
