no thanks given
What's the deal with never using the thanks button? How about people that thanked once or twice and then suddenly decided "Nope. That's it."
|
I think you're just trying to get everyone to like your post.
|
Please!!!!
People reading this thread for the first time please do not thank all my posts on it!!!!! It was fun at first but is wearing thin and the joke has gone on too long. If you actually liked something that is great and thanks is appreciated but I am not enjoying getting up in the morning and finding 30+ thanks on one thread! Thanks. |

EDIT: But on a more serious note, I agree with this you. Quote:

Saying the same "thanks" to somebody that posted some thing mildly interesting as to somebody that really helped or was brilliant seems to cheapen it. |
Nah, that felt about right.
I feel a twinge of something when I respond to someone who has several hundred posts and zero thanks. The struggle is real. Go Hawks. |
I always liked the sarcastic likes...
Example: <CJSporl>OK guys I may be gone a while...seems Chris Hansen wants me to have a seat, so I am gonna be gone a bit... Atropine, TCoat, Ultramarine and 37 others "Like this" |
Quote:
WTF? (Total confusion) Really? (The sarcasm button) Excellent! (the level beyond simple thanks) |
There ya go, happy now Osger.
|
whats worse, the people who never thank or the guy who erases his post after getting the info he wanted?

What gives? |
Because society these days sucks. No one has manners anymore. We get the answer we think we want, and just run with it. Compile that with laziness, and that's what we have here; unable or unwilling to show gratitude no matter how easy it is.
|
I don't think so. I'm not denying the "me first" effect of the late 20th century but I'm not sure it applies here.
I see a small set of people who have posted hundreds, maybe thousands of times who, by any reasonable conclusion, must consciously choose to not push it. What motivates that? |

Ok fine, I'll take a stab at it. First I'll get the disclaimer out of the way that is to say there are probably many reasons, bla, bla, bla. Mostly though I think it is just not part of their psyche. It's not a deliberate decision say out of spite or a sense of superiority but that it simply does not occur to them. I think the act of selecting that button is something learned of habit and therefore the opposite also holds true. |
Personally, it typically doesn't even cross my mind for some reason. I rarely like things on facebook, thumb up videos on youtube, and give thanks on here. I'm horrible with any sort of social media though.

I want to believe the idea that it is not a part of their psyche but even that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It takes work for me to not feel grumpy about it. So I figured what the hell, maybe someone else finds it interesting. |

Even @bkblitzed thanks lots, and he's better than all of us. |

On a more serious note: I, too, also noticed the staggering declined rate of "thanks". Oh well! |
Why can't I thank myself?

Thanks (again). That made me laugh.

The better question is...why isn't there a dislike button? Too many feelings would get hurt or what?
