I did not remove the existing fabric. I used this

to adhere the new fabric to the old. I used black felt I bought at hobby lobby. As far as the holes, I didn't fill them. There's 3d printer files on here to make plugs, but I don't have a 3d printer. I just wrapped it really tight. If you get right up on it and look close, you can tell there's a slight void, but from the rear view mirror, or glancing back there from inside the car, you don't see it. It's about 98% perfect, so I'm satisfied.
