Isn't ABS required by law now for all (new/er) vehicles?

I thought so too. Don't think they'd ever give the option to turn off something that's required by law.

My 58 Chevy wagon:
Single cylinder brake master
Drum brakes
Solid diff
6 inch wide bias ply tires
No power steering
Vacuum powered wipers that stopped when you accelerated and when like hell when take foot off gas
No seat belts, airbags or crumple zones
3 on the tree
Mechanically activated clutch with no hydraulic assist
Flat bench seat with zero support ot bolstering
164 hp with massive torque (no idea on number was so much didn't care)

0 to 60 in about 20 seconds but could swing that rear end out almost as easy as the FRS and with that mass if you didn't know how to handle it you were screwed.

Young guys can believe that modern rwd are something special all they want but you had to know how to drive back then or you died.

Did a 180 on Thursday in front of another car. Came to the end of a road, up to a T junction, realised the way I wanted to go was "Road closed", the other way was worse than going back, so held the fun button in, pulled out of the junction gently popped in 4k rpm and bumped the clutch hard. WEEEEEE!!!! As soon as it started to came round I slipped the clutch and lifted a little until it straightened just in time, no opposite lock, bit the clutch and pelted off back down the road I just came out of wheels still barely over-rotating. In reality it wasn't a 180, I watched the dash cam footage, I only rotated the 90* I needed to not have to do a 3 point turn.

The white car behind me was staring with their mouth held open trying to figure out what just happened as I rotated around the front of their car and was suddenly beside them going the other way. In hindsight, probably dumb to do it in front of people, for all I know they could have taken my plate and report me for dangerous driving. Though it was wet, I could claim it was an accident!?!?

But, yes, in the first few weeks I tried turning it all off and stamping the pedal in 1st on a wet roundabout and very, very nearly spun it. The only reason it didn't spin was it ran out of momentum and came to a halt 90* on to the traffic facing the pedestrian railing. Quite scary and quite stupid.

This is a topic I enjoy

Here are a couple detailed posts on the facts about the pedal dance and ABS with these cars. For you guys curious what's different with the dance and the factory button usage, this will be a good read for you:

Steve,

Please do! I'll be getting a hold of one for testing purposes as soon as I can, but your input would be greatly appreciated.
