If you concerned with the best cost to power gain ratio and want to avoid wasting time or money the 86 platform is a poor platform. I would suggest anything with a 4g63 engine such as a 1st or 2nd gen eclipse or an evo 1-9. A 3rd runner up would be the 4b11 powered evo 10. for about $4,000-$5,000 you can double the power output to the wheels.

~$1000 Stock frame turbo with 30r wheel or larger
~$350 1200cc injectors
~$450 dual walbro drop in fuel kit
~$50 Manual boost controller
~$50 boost gauge
~$100 3" down pipe
~$100 3" test pipe
~$350 3" catback
~$50 drop in filter (hack up the stock intake lid for more air flow)
~$350 intercooler of some sort
~$250 Intercooler piping
~$600 272/272 kelford cams (or larger size)
~$200 tuning cable + software payment
~$100 O2 pipe
~$300 Ported throttle body

Grand Total ~$4300
cost/power ratio: ~$17.20 per horsepower

*Most prices are for used items
**Self installation is assumed
***Self tuning is assumed
****On e85 this set up will place you north of 500hp to the wheels on both dynojet and mustang dynos
*****Factory evo 8/9 power to the wheels averages between 230-250hp

Hope this helps you in finding the best bang for your buck automotive power gains.

Yup just line it up with the hump and everything falls in place. It is a pretty easy install and the included instructions are pretty clear in the steps you take.

I tried again today with no luck...I disconnected the battery this time since last time I did not. The car would try to start, but it would not. It would try cranking for a couple seconds but then give out. Here are some pictures:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8...Tg0MEFObnVlUFE
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8...WdOUktvRTl4STg

I'm using the TRD CAI btw (in case that's important)

I forgot to take a picture of the spacer, but it does have the extra hole for the 2017 aluminum intake manifold. However, I don't think the setup is seated properly.
As you can see, the spacer is not flush with the thermal gasket and the throttle body. When trying to screw the bolts back in, the bottom right screw is much further in than the other 3 screws. I'm not sure if this is causing the problem or if it's a faulty harness. I plan on calling Grams tomorrow. Thanks for the help/input

You really should have disconnected the battery the first time. I remember reading two other posts where they did not initially disconnect the battery and they had all the issues.

Try hitting the start button twice without stepping on the clutch peddle. this will put your cars electronics into the on position. Take the intake pipe off the throttle body while the car is in on position and have a friend step on the gas peddle. See if the throttle flap opens and closes. Have this friend try to turn the car on (start button with clutch pressed down) while the intake pipe is off. check to see if the flap opens.

If the flap opens doing the above then the electrical part is all good. If not get an amp meter or a friend with an amp meter and unplug the harness at the throttle body. Check to see if all the electrical pin are giving proper voltage readings. You are going to have to report these readings to grams to see if they can confirm the harness is ok or check on here for what the proper readings should be.

If the flap is opening and closing in the above tests and the connection is good. The next thing I would draw your attention to would be the threaded hole at the top of the throttle body that requires you to screw in the threaded plug provided with the kit. From your pics it looks like you screwed it in way to far to where it is not sealing off the whole. This could be the angle and resolution in your pictures but when compared to the pictures I took at 86fest it seems like you screwed it in way to deep which would leave you with an air leak.

So check those to things a post back what you found.

Ya compare the hole and plug in your first pic to the plug and hole in the 2nd pic I provided from the grams display engine. Yours seems very recessed into the hole.

Try putting the stock throttle body back on before going any further.

I second TachyonBombs method for testing here. If you don't have a friend around, you can alternatively unbolt the throttle body from the intake runners and set it on top of the engine to watch while you operate the throttle from inside the car. Was testing the other day and this method worked great for me.

thanks for the input everyone. Just an update on this, I was able to read the fault code as P0121 and yeah the throttle body would not open with the gas pedal pressed. Grams is sending me a new wire harness, so hope that is the solution!

got the wire harness in, and whattaya know..it works like a charm!! Wow, granted it is my butt dyno, but throttle response is great! The best part is the sound as you can just hear the increased airflow! Thanks everyone!

Nice that Grams managed to make this product. Hope that now the different issues are resolved and users will have a straight forward installation.

is there a way to keep the coolant line? I have a forrester xt oil cooler that i would like to retain. The grams website is worthless for installation info.
