Thanks. I’ve seen it before.

The video demonstrates and discusses exactly what I was saying and asking without really addressing this product. Like he mentions, many oil coolers have thermometers that open the flow to the oil cooler, but there is always flow, so in cool weather after cold starts the oil will be getting cooled which will extend getting the oil up to good operating temperatures. It seems like this product could do the same, especially since there is no built in thermometer to limit oil flow to the cooler. But, it does circulate oil next to the coolant which should heat the oil on cooler days, so this product would be better than other oil coolers, potentially.

Overcooling your oil, is about the same as overcooling your coolant.

Just how the thermostat keeps your engine from being overcooled, the thermostatic plate prevents your oil from being overcooled.

For that matter, a *STOCK* WRX overheats coolant in 3 back to back pulls on the dyno. MGT2259S. You're welcome to look up specs yourself; it is a *water cooled* turbo.

I think you confuse the conducted heat of the oil in the turbocharger, versus the frictional heat generated in the oil by RPMs.

It's a very simple test you can do yourself. Go on the highway, and watch your oil temps by cruising in 3rd gear. You may be shocked at how quickly they climb.

I have oil temperature and pressure gauge. Can I use an sandwich plate (Perrin or TRD) with temp and pressure ports below the jacksonracing sandwich plate? Need it to clear JDL intake? I have the older version of the JR dual radiator. I was thinking just buying the JR new sandwich plate but I’m not sure if oil lines to AN fitting on JR sandwich clear.

You can use any sandwich plate that has compatible threading and ports!

So is it okay to put the trd sandwich first and stack the JR sandwich on top of the TRD as well? Similar to this except it’ll have the spacer and Jacksonracing sandwich plate on top of the TRD sandwich. (I have he older version of Jackson racing dual radiator sandwich) -I need to clear the turbo intake.

Good day,

Is there any feeback on the long term reliability of this cooling solution, particularly regarding a suitable a stainless braided hose option to avoid risk of hose failure due to chafing or kinking ?

I am looking for a cooling solution for my intercooled Turbo setup, and this cooler option seems very attrative, however since my vehicule is also my year round daily driver including cold, icy and snowy winters, I am looking for a solution with highest reliability potential and would appreciate any feedback. I experienced consistently up to 212f water temp and 280F oil temp with 5w40 oil during multiple sessions at an HPDE event, which seems to indicate a strong need for an oil cooler if I am interested in attending other HPDEs in the future. Normal driving temps would not usually exceed 240F.

Thank you

Wow... That's hot! I was reaching 270F oil temp on the Autobahn here in Germany with extended rides at around 115mph. I changed my radiator out for the beloved JR combo radiator/oil cooler about 2 months ago so I cant speak for long term, but I am pretty happy so far with the cooling ability on my NA BRZ. I am averaging around 210-215f oil temps at high speeds (190ish at normal highway speeds). I don't believe the braided hoses are necessary at all if you install it right. There's no chaffing from what I can see and I have been a little paranoid, checking every time I get gas.

Installed my radiator/oil cooler a couple weeks ago. First track day with it was mid 90s ambient temp. Oil maxed at 233F once, and maintained right around 230 through four 20 minute sessions. Whereas previously I could only go about 10 minutes and temps would get above 260. Gotta say thanks to JR for a great product! The instructions were well written out, but I really could've used some pictures with them. But hey, that's what the internet's for, right?

Now I'm just hoping it will still fit and perform as well in a couple years after the addition of a turbo. Fingers crossed!

You can cut your own hoses and attach them to -10 an fittings with the appropriate bend. I've got my ss lines mocked up and ready, but haven't had the time yet to install.

Thanks for the feedback, I've just ordered the JR dual cooler and will be able give feedback on how it performs after its installed, but based of the feedback here, I suspect it will be exactly what I need. My Turbo setup puts up to 340hp, if it can bring oil down from 280F down to 240F or less, It'll be just fine for my 5W40 oil.
