Front Brace bolt stripped

Whelp...I fudged up trying to install my Grimm speed brace. I set my trq wrench to 11! And with barley a twist and without any resistance I felt it strip. These nuts only need to be hand tighten. Also, as you can see in the pic below, between the OEM V brace thickness and Grimmspeed thickness, the nuts did not have much t grab onto.

Help! How do I fix this??

What size nut is this? m8? Also, maybe if I get a shorter nut? Anyone have an idea which nut i could go with?

Also, the Grimm speed strut bar is pretty thick...I could ditch the brace entirely and just go back to OEM setup which I'm sure the nut will grab.

There is no way that those nuts should only be hand tightened. If that was the case, no point in the brace as it won't be doing anything.

You don't have enough threads engaging on those studs. Looks like you need longer studs (all of them), or ditch one of the braces.

As for the one that's already partially stripped, maybe there is enough threads left if you ditch the aftermarket brace?

Yeah, I'm thinking of ditching the brace and looking for another design. There should be more threads left to grab.

Those brace designs are kind of crap. I have the nameless brace. It goes to the camber plate and uses conical nuts to lock it in place.

While I remain skeptical of the actual benefit of strut tower braces on this platform - there are WAY more squishy places to address first - I used to laud the legitimacy of the Grimmspeed for the reasons explained in the Nameless writeup.

Then I finally took a close look at where the Grimmspeed (and factory) braces are fastened. Skimpy little add-ons spot welded to the towers themselves.

I won't bother, but I should go back and edit all the positive statements I made about the Grimmspeed ones.

Yeah all good learning lessons here. I'm angry with myself...Can't believe I did that, I should've known better.

Nameless design seems much better now that I know what I'm looking at.

I wouldn’t have considered adding one but it was easier then building a mount for my accumsump.

Hey, but you chose wisely. Those tapered nuts are brilliant.

Thanks for posting this. I didn't know the Nameless bar even existed. More functional and bonus points for looks.

If I was ever to get a strut bar it would be the Trd one. Looks great and that’s all that matters for a part like this haha.
