Do you think there's scope to reduce the flash time in the future? BRZ-Edit, for example, takes about 2 minutes to write.

Yes, we can reduce the time between write commands to shorten flash times. But that will probably come after a few weeks. There some other diagnostic functions we would like to implement first. As with the BMW application, the FR-S/BRZ application evolve over time.

Can the rev limiter be adjusted to both different rpms and a softer limit.

Have the logging tables been defined?

Which tuners aside from vishnu support this?

A list of participating tuners would be great.

Any evidence or footprint left after going back to stock?

This may be exactly what I am looking for. I am so scared about my motor popping and having a tune on there. At least this way you can go back to stock and unless they dealer really wants to go looking it should be fine.

Yes, the rev limiters can be adjusted. Both the on RPM and the off RPM. When you set them close to each other, you get a "softer" rev limit. The wider the gap between them, the harder the rev limit. The stock tune has a ~200rpm difference which is why its pretty hard.

Datalogging will be enabled later this month and will show the channels necessary for tuning such as RPM, Ignition Advance, AFR, Commanded AFR, Knock, Knock Learning, Ignition Advance Multiplier, STFT, LTFT, etc,. It will display these values realtime on its screen and store up to an hour of data on board (no laptop required). Then you can download the data to the laptop to export into our datalog viewing software. It will work exactly like it does on our BMW application:

*Except the part about the in-dash boost gauge

Vishnu Tuning, who has been mapping Subaru engines since 1999, will be providing baseline maps for gasoline and E85 applications. From no modifications to full bolt-ons. All the mapping is open and unencrypted for anyone to see and make further changes if so desired. You can even take your car to any competent dyno tuning shop to get custom tuned. They won't need any special licensing or need to purchase any additional tuning software as you would with the other flash tuning software packages. It is all free with the OpenFlash Tablet. For power mapping, all changes will be isolated to just a few tables which are clearly labeled (Ignition Advance, Ignition Correction, AFR, VVT Intake and VVT Exhaust. Of course, there are ~200 editable tables in all so you have access to just about anything. But realistically, only a handful will be edited. Hopefully this will demystify the tuning process as it is quite simple on the FA20 application. Having access to the tables and being able to share maps with others should move things along quickly to the point were no one is at the mercy of their tune supplier. At $500 for a tune with handheld device, we predict some resistance from existing Ecutek dealers. But if history repeats itself, they will give in as they have in other platforms where open source tuning was released (Mitsu and Subaru).

The OpenFlash Tablet saves your original ROM file (when you first install it). You can flash this original file back into your ECU when its time to go to the dealership. Unlike other "closed" tuning solutions (Ecutek or BRZedit), there are no licensing markers embedded in the code. This means that the stock ROM is ACTUALLY stock, byte for byte.
