I'm guessing given the low mass its momentum would be quite low as well.

Install Require Bumper Removal

Does this require removal of the bumper to install? I understand it's almost impossible to remove the brz bumper and get it rehung properly, and am hesitant to consider if the bumper removal in necessary. Thank you for feedback?

Visit their website... there are install instructions (PDF) available. Looks like there is a "partial" removal of the bumper in order to remove the OEM snorkel.

Dyno results

Not sure if it's indicated on the "print out" -- but what kind of exhaust (headers to tips) are on the test car.

I have the Version 2 aFe Takeda intake which looks similar in install to this version.

The install pamphlet told me to remove the bumper to unbolt and take out the snorkel assembly of the stock intake.

I was able to unbolt and remove the snorkel by unscrewing the top pan of the front bar and then peeling back the bumper's top part just enough to get a socket wrench in. The hardest part was wiggling the snorkel itself out of the gap made. I had to get a mate to hold the front bar's top back a bit while I pulled it through.

Much easier than removing and remounting the whole unit though.

As "Wise and PNW FRS" suggested it is a partial bumper detachment making it easier to remove the snorkel with enough given room. The instructions should provide you with enough help to do this.

The baseline and the Takeda intake run had both the stock exhaust, and stock exhaust manifolds on the test car.

More questions..

Is the "regular" plastic (non-CF) version available with the intake tube w/o the hole for the Sound Generator? (Like the CF version.)

RE: removal of oem snorkel > wondering how much the removal of this plays in your peak HP gain? Seems that taking off the snorkel creates sort of a "ram-jet" scenario whereby fresh air is being forced into the large airbox -- end result is your increase in air flow.

That with a combination of the sound tube delete, bigger filter and our tube design all adds up in making more power.
