Can someone verify the radio trim cut-out dimensions? My car is still in Miami, and I'm thinking of fabbing a tablet mount.

What material did you use for building the mount? Definitely like the look. Great job!

The mount was simple. It was a case with a reverse flap. I cut the flap, and tucked it under the radio bezel. I also put some rubber feet on back of case so the hazards didn't come on. It worked out well for a few hours, but aesthetically I thought it was 'meh' - so it has been since removed and am thinking of another solution.

Is it rumored that the iPad Mini will have 3G/4G communication chipset in it? Adding the phone/data connection will increase the price point that the Mini was aiming for. I thought the Mini is going to be a Wifi-only device like Nexus 7.

Using iPhone+wifi hotspot with iPad is probably an easier option, and then...

Many iDevices (iPhone/iPad) do not support cheap Bluetooth OBDII adapter because on the iDevice the Bluetooth level (2.0) was not compatible. For iDevices, they typically use Wifi connection but I do not have personal experience of how good/bad they are, and the adapter/software for iDevices are quite expensive.

Savant did this with a Lexus IS300. They integrated the HVAC controls and other vehicle functions into the iPad as well. Not a cheap thing to do, as they charge a minimum of $15,000 for a project like this! Very neat idea, though:

Here my own built creation for Galaxy Tabs 8.4.
No sticky tape, velcro or glue: everything just clicks in.
Tablet slides to show the original head unit and/or detouches to be hidden in the glove box.
Holder shows ecologic leather and aluminum and can detouch to leave clean and unmarked dash.
