Have you had a look at other marque specific sites?
I find most posts here a bit more considered over all.

Have you posted your sneakers yet?

Hey, you asked.

A bit more interesting than a forum with 10 members that never have anything to post innit?

I rather have a whole bunch of unpaid reviews/reviewers then a few paid professionals cause most the unpaid ones own the car and have way more seat time then a pro who drives the car for half hour

13 posts. "Wrath" in the name. No response from OP yet. Sounds like trolling to me.

Who CARES how many people review the car? It's their car. If owner reviews suck, Amazon is doing it wrong. Oh, wait, Amazon reviews can make or break products.

OP makes it sound like all owner reviews are positive with his "circle-jerk" comparison. Plenty of people have posted information about DI problems, low horsepower, sparse interior, and even seized engines.

Okay, finished feeding the troll.

Why is this in "Off Topic"? Seems it should be moved somewhere else.

Mods?

Meh, I don't really mind, although I do get a little annoyed how a lot of it seems to be crotch-measuring about who is coming from the most powerful car, which I just think is stupid. We've all got 2013 models, and we've all got identical drivetrains, and the differences between our vehicles are all cosmetic or the number of amenities we have, so we don't really have much groundwork for an e-peen "My car is better than yours" thing (except for us glamorous BRZ Limited owners, with every comfort and amenity imaginable in our cars, the pinnacle of the GT86 variants ). It's not like we're, say, an Impreza forum, where people with STIs can lord themselves over WRX owners, who in turn can lord themselves over the vanilla Impreza owners, and the vehicle ages and conditions span a huge gamut, and you've got new members joining with $5K cars that are ten years old with 100k miles, and other new members joining with $40k brand new cars, and you've got a natural order of internet superiority complexes. We've all got fundamentally the same car, and having new members join with a brand new $25k car versus a brand new $28k car doesn't let you feel like you are better than everyone else.

So the only logical step for e-peen is to turn to who had the best car before their twin, or who has the best car in addition to their twin. Oh, you traded in a '07 Civic SI with 230whp for your twin? That's cool, but I traded in a '09 WRX with 270whp for mine. But this guy over here, he used to have a Porsche before he got his twin, he needs the largest underwear of us all. I get a little tired of "reviews" that are pretty much "Let me talk about how great my last car was, and then justify my purchase of my twin". If your post is "Well I used to have an E46 M3, so it took me a little while to adjust to having way less power, since I had a Stage 2 tune and a high-pressure blinker fluid reservoir making 375whp, but the handling of my FR-S is good, and the ride is better, since I had pro racing coilovers and low-profile tires on my BMW, blah blah blah my old car was so great", it's pretty dumb.

I've also got to question the financial sense of some of these people. If you had a 2010 Civic SI with a couple grand worth of mods, why the heck did you get rid of it three years later? If you had a 2008 Boxster, why'd you downgrade to a Scion? Did all these people who are coming to the twins from a <5 year old luxury sports car bite off way more than they could chew when they bought that car, and are trying to get out of a car they're underwater on before the warranty runs out? I just don't understand the mindset and the financial wisdom of a lot of these members who are trading in almost-new cars to get the twins, and presumably taking quite a big loss to do so.

I got rid of a 2000 Legacy GT with >220k miles for my BRZ. You know what? My new car looks a million times cooler, it gets ~40-50% better fuel economy, it's much faster, it has 35 more horsepower and is 500 lbs lighter, it's got a nicer interior, it's quieter at high speeds, it has better handling, it's got more amenities, and it's got a better stereo. Nobody in their right mind would rather have a 2000 Legacy GT than a 2013 BRZ Limited. That probably puts me at the bottom of the totem pole (I guess I can only feel like I'm superior to all the 16 year old rich kids getting FR-Ses as their first cars, and I guess since this is my third MT car I can feel superior to first-time MT drivers, but I can't compete with all of you folks coming from mid to late 2000s sports cars), but the only thing I had to compromise on was interior room. Every other conceivable comparison, the BRZ is clearly superior, so I don't feel like I need to justify it to the internet. Maybe for these people coming from premium brands or more powerful cars, who are making a lot more compromises (giving up power, giving up amenities, giving up quality) need to post a review thread to justify it to everyone, so it's not just "Yeah, I leased a 2009 BMW 328i and it was way more than I really could afford, so now that it's up I am getting a more reasonably priced car, but it's really because I just LOVE having great handling, and I really don't mind giving up the luxurious interior and premium brand quality, because I'm really more of a driver who is function over form, and I'm such a tuner, I know it makes way less power but I love to mod, so in the future I'll make 400whp from bolt-ons, and I'm not some lame person who thinks of a car as a status symbol so I don't care what anyone thinks about me trading in my Porsche for a Scion, I'm a creative unique individual who had lots of good reasons to downgrade that have nothing to do with money"

Its because no one is completely satisfied and we are all trying to justify our purchases.

I love my car but the circle jerk mentality is really on the next level with this vehicle.

What do you think?
Its about social circles, a person who does not own a 86 that sees a review from a person that they don't know, is more inclined to believe them less, than a review from someone who is part of their own social circle.

Some people who have video blogs have subscribers and followers, meaning they trust their opinion more than the next guy. If that person has a review on the 86, it reaches the ears of those people better than the other same review by another person.

Having more and more 86 reviews by actual owners are a good thing, as it helps us look at the good and bad via statistics and we can send this information over to Toyota/Subaru and they can work with this information. Which will be good for future buyers and future models.
