Directly from Rev Works - Matt Robinson was the guy that was dealing with me.

they refuse to do anything about it because i dont have the original receipt. i have all the info off of the box, that tells when it was made etc and yet i am told too bad.
the products are junk.
They refuse to do anything about it because you aren't the original owner, and their warranty doesn't transfer to a new owner.

You bought it used, ergo, you have no warranty.

either way the news are a pile of shit just like the old ones...
Their product is junk plain and simple. Weldidng pipe isn't rocket science, yet borla can't seem to handle it.

RevWorks 1 year warranty bothers me. There has already been one RevWorks failure that I know of. Yes, it was taken care of quickly by RevWorks, but still...only 1 year. Otherwise the part looks excellent, and if it had a longer warranty I'd be all over it. Also, the lack of flex joints is a tiny bit worrisome. Though the addition of flex joints doesn't seem to be doing Borla any favors.

Eh, most other situations I wouldn't care, but Headers on this car have been such a pain in the ass, that I'm paranoid. At least with Borla, the Warranty is there and its solid. Is the part Solid? Hit or miss...I'm pretty sure they've sold probably more headers than anyone else, and yes they've had more issues than anyone else, but for each bad experience there are lots of people with good experiences. You get what you pay for, bottom line.

The JDL seems like an excellent option, but I've been reading about all the fitment issues. Not all peaches and cream, especially for the money.

FA20 Club has several solid offerings with lifetime warranties, but you'll be waiting awhile to get yours as they are very busy right now. If I could get the product within a week of ordering it, I probably would have bought one last week, especially since I'm also interested in their turbo kit. But as a kicker, their UEL is darn near twice the price of the Borla.

This is just IMO, from someone who doesn't own any of the products discussed above. I'm on the cusp of doing "something" with my car, just don't know what yet (FI or NA), so I've been paying attention where applicable.

Another note on Borla, the product isn't made in the USA. Granted, I drive a Japanese built car, but the more manufacturing Jobs we can keep in the USA, the better off we'll be. I wish it was built here, as I've always like Borla's warranty and customer service.

What's the difference between the EL and UEL in terms of performance and application? I've never done headers before.

EL won't give you the burble that UEL will, but iirc, you will make a little more power with it.

Noise. Honestly, its just not a boxer engine without that exaggerated boxer rumble. Ideally, an equal length header will net more power, but in practice, most of the dyno tunes I've seen net around the same amount of power. The important part being that you get it tuned.

The biggest issue to worry about is replacing the standard exhaust manifold, which clearly is not up to the task. UEL or EL, I'd bet your get more power from the car by taping a bunch of McDonalds straws together in the shape of a header and attaching them to the engine. The stock exhaust manifold is that bad.

Well, maybe not that bad, but you get the point.

Thanks, looking at the dyno gains for several models, I'm questioning whether or not to turbo the car now. If this and an exhaust alone fixes the dip and seriously gives that much HP/ft-lbs, you're right about the stock one.

I just don't know why I never bothered to look into these threads before. Probably because the only car I've really tuned had an excellent turbo manifold stock.

If you want to go turbo at a later date, the FA20 Club UEL and EL headers can be converted to turbo manifolds at a later date. The headers are the same as come with their turbo kit, with the exception being on the NA version there is a u-bend that loops back around, while the FI version has a manifold for the Turbo. FA20 Club has said that if you already own one of their headers, they'll subtract $700 or so from the cost of the turbo kit.

Something to consider.

Also revworks has a nice combo deal where you get the header overpipe and catted front pipe for 1200ISH dollars.

The English language isn't rocket science either yet... (see above).

Perhaps you can buy a used Revworks header and then complain about how it cracked at the welds or get a used JDL and complain about how it hits the skid plate, is not properly deburred, the collector looks nothing like the prototype and the flex joints rattle so badly that you're embarrassed to drive in public?
