I think.....

His show is on comedy central. (generally considered left wing) Because of this; he is preforming satire. As most audience members will agree with his underlying message.


If he spoke at a Republican get-together; he would be trolling. As most audience members would disagree with his underlying message.

Not really a matter of agreeing or disagreeing with the message. You can disagree with somebody and not be trolling. It would be more like if he showed up at a get-together and made shit up that even he doesn't believe just to piss people off.
