So much speculation and Toyota slobbering on this page.
Quote:
Tell me the last car that Toyota built that everyday drivers could turn into Autocross, Ralllycross, or professional Rallying that could even come close to winning titles let alone win them. This car is something that can be turned into a winner on circuits that weeekend racrers and people who want an inexpensive track car that is competitive in it's class. Tell us the last time Toyota has done that and keep telling us how Toyota is capable of making a "pure" inexpensive sport coupe that hits every handling and fun quotient mark for the true enthusiast or weekend racer....... Their F1 car was a complete competitive failure, and they backed out of Le Mans very quickly. Even Mazda did more, let alone Audi......This is about making an affordable car that excels at what it does, not an unlimited budget that does little for the amount of money spent....... Toyota makes a great reliable car, but they have not been able to engineer a car in this class with this quality of lightness and handling and stability or even one that has stirred the soul of people who want a car that actually performs as good or better than it looks in the sense of a true handling sports car. (The MR2 was a nice car but never garnered the reviews this car has attained as a lightweight extremely fun car to drive. Subaru has done this for years now.......... just look at the SCCA, Rally Clubs and Autocrossing. Subaru cars have been better for a long time at this niche. Any other cars that cost $50,000 or more don't really count as competition..... |
