Oh, sorry to be misleading but i am using the button switch not the stalk. I will probably tap into the white still to make the dash light come on.

Yup your diagram is misleading. After all, this is the "FRS fogs using BRZ stalk" thread lol

If you want the dash light to come on, you will have to ground that wire. And to do so, you will have to use a negative trigger setup posted by PatGT86. Your relay setup will not work since it is a positive trigger setup.

I know but the other thread i am also on for fogs doesn't talk about the dash light which i was wondering about. I was just wondering about that diagram cause i haven't seen it setup that way. Thanks for your help!

So tying the ground from the switch with the white wire will not light the dash indicator?

What ground wire from the switch? Since you have 86 connected to ground, your trigger wire from the switch connected to 85 must be +positive to energize the coil. You can't tap that to the white wire.

That is a NEGATIVE TRIGGER setup, again, just like PatGT86 posted. The original diagram you posted is a POSITIVE TRIGGER setup

The 86 on the relay will be grounded. Again, i do not have the pin setup for the switch yet but power will come from the battery for the button switch so it will be before the relay and therefore only energizes the coil when i flip the switch. In PatGT86's diagram it appears the coil will be energized when the switch is flipped because of grounding but the switch is after the relay not between the battery and the relay. I will try to give you an exact diagram when i have time. Cheers!

The switch does not have to be between the battery and the relay.

And that's what i learned when I google what the heck a negative trigger setup was...

bsmith: use the diagram i posted, instead of using the stalk, pass a wire through the firewall from pin 86 of the relay into one half of your push button switch, then connect a wire from the other half of your switch and tie it onto the white wire on the BCU harness.

this will activate the dash light and fire up the relay (and your fogs) if you have +12V running to both pins 85 & 30, and the fog lamps are connected between pin 87 and ground.

So what i am wondering from this diagram is, wouldn't there constantly be power running through the relay because the switch just grounds the circuit rather than provide the power source??
