It is/was a comp engine.

The heads were built by Element Tuning with Ferrea big valve components. The spring kit sells for over $900 and valves range from $60-$70 each. I realize the valves in #2 are probably/maybe/most likely toast but the springs and the rest of the valves (and bank 1 head) should be fine.

I don't know if anything in the bottom end is worth anything.

When pulling the heads off, should I try and keep the rockers and shims matched?
I don’t think I would worry about keeping rockers and shims matched too much but putting them in a bag and labeling where the came from isn’t a bad idea. Heads can be repaired so I would try to salvage what you can as it may be worth something to someone. That head package is not cheap and a repair is much cheaper than having it all done from scratch.

Meh. Those shims are going to be all mix-&-match once you start cutting valve seats, lapping, blah blah... MSG is on point. Those heads are worth way more as complete packages. Maybe repair, spruce up... I dunno. I'm amazed at people that are good at wheeling and dealing. I always get burned unless I pay retail for new shit, and I just give away what I don't need.

Noob question here: This engine has ARP head studs. Yesterday, I was trying to take the nuts off to get the heads off but they were really really tight. Much tighter than a wheel lug and much tighter that the old chevys that I worked on years ago.

I don't know what is normal for these engines. Do I get on it with a 6' cheater bar and go for it?

Post mortum

A buddy said it might have been caused by detonation. To my untrained
eye, it looks like the piston just f'ing broke.

Repairable?

As I posted earlier, these are Element Tuning big valve heads. As a noob, I have no idea how much it would cost to repair this kind of damage. The valves (-4) and springs are around $1800. Plus bronze guides.

I didn't reply because I don't know about the FA. Did you just send it?
