FR-S, A Rebadged Subaru? (Article)

Lol, some of you don't know what a rebadge is. In order for it to be a rebadge, Subaru would have already had to have made the car first. This is a joint collaboration, so nobody gets 'dibs' on owning the credit. Not to mention they are NOT identical as you look at the spring rates for example.

For an understanding of rebadging, go google 'GM history'. Particularly Cadillac Cimarron among others.

I have been following all forms of motorsports for 40 years. Please enlighten me as to what venue(s), in what disciplines and in what era has Toyota dominated the world of motorsports and won all these titles that surpass the likes of:

Toyota only owns 16% of Suabru. I 100% agree that the FRZ was Toyota's original inspiration. That said, we would not have the car without Subaru either. And originally Subaru did say no to the project. They did noy want a RWD sports car and they wanted a turbo. The FRZ was put on hold until Toyota built a prototype and Subaru engineers drove it and saw the potential.

Folks it was a joint project. If you watch some of the Subaru videos out there the Subaru engineers discuss many of the challenges and how they built the car. Clearly Subaru engineers were heavily involved in engineering and building this car.

I personally think Toyota and Subaru both make great cars and don't mind it all that it was a collaboration. I would love my car just as much if it had a Scion or Toyota badge vs Subaru on it.

The point isn't that it was made by Subaru, that is indisputable, but that it was conceived by Toyota, and the design duties were divided between the two firms. So it is inaccurate to call it a "rebadging". A joint venture is a much more accurate description.

Looking at this list reminds of the consistency in which Toyota fails (or rather, not win) at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This year would've been as close as they could get, especially with the fuel tank restrictions on the diesels.

Next year? With Porsche returning to LMP1, good luck on trying to join Mazda.

P.S. As for the original article... I thought it was pretty accurate. The article's point was not to educate the reader about a history of the GT86 and why it's called "86" (did no one read original articles about how the car has no 86 reference in the US due to the, um, other meaning of the numbers?), but rather to educate on why Scion is struggling so badly a mere 10 years after it was introduced?

And comments on internet articles I tend to ignore. It's kind of pointless arguing those.
