First of all: OUCH glad you're ok

When I got into my accident, Statefarm (my insurance) and USAA (the other person's insurance) body recommended Kuroda Auto Body in Waipio Gentry. Kuroda did great work and I am very satisfied with their professionalism and repair work. It took about a month for the insurance companies to work out their paperwork and a week while the car was in the shop.

Good luck!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but usually your insurance company deals with their own body shop, which in most cases, are reputable companies that do quality work. If you take your car to an alternate body shop, you run the risk of losing that "Guarantee" type quality. In the event "Your" insurance company's body shop does a crappy job, you are entitled to it being repaired to your satisfaction. I have USAA and that's their policy. Either way, good luck, sorry about your ride, glad to know you are ok, and I hope it all works out for you.

Aloha,
Ace

Typically insurance companies will develop lasting relationships with bodyshops. Its works good for both businesses, but often it may involve a deal where the insurance company gets better rates from the shop. It could also be where theinsurance company trusts that shop not to jack up the cost of the bodywork on them, and milk them for more money.

Because it's an insurance job some autobody places don't always put good effort into their work. A lot of guys are just burnt out with the workload, and don't take the time to a really good paint job, use too much bondo, etc etc. Things to consider when getting work done by a shop you don't know.

Most insurance companies will work with a bodyshop of your choice, some reluctantly. Best to find a shop you trust, with owners who have good ethics, and still care about the quality of their work. Place them in contact with your insurance company, and chances are they'll work with your choice.

Oka's Auto Body in Waipahu. Ask for Brandon. They are highly recommended by all of the WRX guys on Iclub.

Mine went in for some front end minor damage due to someone else backing up into me, took 1 month from incident to completed repair.

I went to Kuroda. Everything was done flawless, however they didn't align my headlights correctly. (easy fix, did it myself. took just a few minutes)

Every major repair shop is pretty much backlogged, I called around just in case to try and get my car repaired sooner. They are all about 2-4 weeks out.

I hate to say it, but the island is notorious for bad drivers... (puts on my flame suit)
