One of the tougher things for me was that many of the seats I sat in had too low of shoulder holes. I don't know if I have a long body or if seats are just built more for small people, but it seriously limited my options. If nothing else ask some people at track days or autocrosses to let you sit in their seats. The Sparco seats I sat in all seemed to have lower shoulder holes btw.

There was a seat lowering bracket discussion for the longest time that seemed to go stale. I know when I start up NASA Time Trials next year I'm investing in a seat and harness, possibly a HANS. Would be great to get some info on seat/harness/HANS combos for people 6'0" to 6'6" ...

Consensus is that RS3 is a better track tire than the ZII. It has more absolute dry grip and it's quite progressive at the limit, which means it's more forgiving of driver errors.
The ZII is more 'peaky', the transition between gripping and sliding at the limit comes quicker, so it *can be* harder to drive (less forgiving). It's has more wet grip than the RS3, and it also heats up (reaches optimum operating temps) quicker, which can be desirable for autocross. I have driven both and I also prefer the RS3s (I track once a month on average, but don't do autox). Both tires have a low tread wear rating however, and are probably overkill if you don't track often. The RE11A and the AD08R are both fine performance tires for the street and occasional track days (or when competition rules don't let you use anything with lower TW), but the Yokohama are considerably more expensive (20-30% last time I looked at Tirerack) than the Bridgestone, so most people get the R11A. Rivals vs ZII vs RE11A vs AD08R test at Tire Rack (did not include RS3, but it would beat them all in the dry) |

Installed XP10 last week, just really drove my car a little yesterday.
I wasn't driving aggressive or anything but I had to get on the brakes hard in a straight line (maybe 80 mph) and I noticed the TC was flashing and the car felt all squirrely, particularly I think the rear was moving a bit. I didn't try to replicate it because there was a bit of traffic around. I could go out and test it tomorrow night since I am off work but just wanted to know if this is something to be expected. I imagine the pads were "cold" since I was street driving and the stock tires have little grip so maybe the TC felt an instant lock up and got confused or something. Any ideas? If not, I'll go out in the night tomorrow and test it and see what happens. Just wondering because I am going to track Monday.

The RE11A is a better DD tire, and handles puddles the best of the 4 common trackable street tires.

With the onset of the rainy season I was wondering which would make a better set of "wets" for those near washout track weekends ? The 710's are next to impossible with just a solid film of moisture on the track and I have plenty of room to haul a spare set.
My street tires 225/18 RS3's which do fine for street driving in moderate rain (too old and too wise to be stupid in the rain) or the original Primacys which are stacked up in the garage somewhere on the stock wheels.

If you want a R-comp type tire, consider the RA1 or Victoracers at full tread. |

Also, you want narrower tires for puddles; it evacuates the water faster. |

Thanks. I came from a mud background, where you want large voids and an obvious path off the tire so you can keep the tread clear. I was looking at those tires because they have a lot of siping on the tread and a clear way to evacuate water.
