Just replaced my manual transmission fluid with amsoil synthetic Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90. Made sure my car was level, filled the tranny from the top of the car with a polyvinyl tube and funnel. One of the things I noticed was that I had to put about 0.4L more than what I took out. My kms were 31600 (manual says to replace at 32000km) and the old fluid looked horrible.

My shifts are now much smoother and the car just generally feels nicer to drive. Highly recommend replacing your fluid, even just to fill it up to the correct level. My tranny took 2.7L instead of 2.3L like the manual states.

quick question..anyone looking at their AT transmission...did you notice anything about the gasket? mine has crack marks at every bolt lactation. am hoping they arent all the way across. I checked the fluid and its super clear and there is no evidence of leaks anywhere, i took a rag and went across the entire pan, it was dirty but didn't come across any wet/shiny spots to indicate that i had a leak.

but those marks do have me a bit worried.

I do lots of city driving, don't really beat on my car but do drive spirited and occasional autox. I already switched to motul 300 in the tranny and diff at 7400 miles. I plan on changing the diff fluid every 15k and tranny every 30k as proactive maintenance. I figure it's easy and cheap enough.

Put in Motul 300 last weekend at 16k miles. Didn't feel a difference... 4th gear still "crunches" in at high RPM's but doesn't feel like anything is getting damaged per se.

Still felt good to get that smelly factory stuff out of there though :p

Differential drain plug gasket: TOY1215710010 @$1.50 each
Transmission fill/drain plug gasket: SU00303626 @>$11 each

I went to the Subaru dealer today and he said the Tranny fill/drain gaskets are $8 each so I ordered those, but he did not find any parts for the differential. If someone can confirm these are the right #s I will call him back and ask him to order these for me too. Will the TOY # work at Subaru?

Incase you missed it reading through the thread.
