UEL Header question

hello im looking to buy an UEL Header but im not too sure what to get
mostly looking for dat subaru rumble without something that's obscenely loud.

currently running an invidia N1 catback. no other mods
was considering an MXP UEL Header... any other suggestions?

Edit: would also like to add that i live in SoCal, not too sure if that would make a difference

With an N1 already, almost any catless header is going to make your car pretty loud. If you wanted to cut down on the sound you can either get a catted header or go with a quieter catback. Recommendations: Tomei and OpenFlash (both catless). For catted: JDL or ft86speedfactory

You have a good cat back and with a cattless header it will not be that loud. I say this as i have a OFH and a Perrin catt back with a resonator, and wish it was a bit louder! Me being a 48 year old juvenile delinquent, I think you will be OK! My 575hp F250 is way louder!

OP I had an N1 with a Tomei UEL. The coldstarts were pretty loud but calmed down quite a bit after the car warmed up. Daily driving was fine but it was too loud / drone-y for me on any longer trips (40 min+). Ended up selling the N1 and going back to the stock exhaust. As mentioned above, if you want to reduce the noise and keep the N1 you could opt to go with a catted header but this is sub-optimal for performance. Otherwise I would switch back to stock or find a quieter exhaust (i.e. Q300).

Does a catted UEL header reduce fuel economy or something?

I don't think it makes a difference in fuel economy.

Going to be the odd one out and recommend the borla headers. Alot of people are going to tell you that the borla headers are bad but those were only for the first batches. In my opinion they produce the best rumble sound and make nice power. Iv have had mine for almost a year, bought it used for $300, no warped flanges and no cracks at all. Running borla UEL, borla cat delete, stock midpipe, with a custom muffler delete. Also stock tune with no check engine light (came on once but deleted and has yet to come back on) torque dips feels alot better and my butt dyno likes it.

This is how it sounds on a cold start, yes it is raspy when the exhaust is cold but once it is warmed up it gets deeper.

Yeah it's super loud but that is because im running no cats/muffler, once I get a tune it will remove the cold start. Im also piecing together a axle back exhaust (really just trying to find a good muffler that I like) to also quite it down since im over the super loud exhaust phase. I seem to have lost drive-by/tunnel footage of my car. I have been told my random people if there is a v8 in it.

I think Tsudo is pretty high on my list right now

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbndvIrWGys"]FRS Revworks UEL header, Tsudo header back exhaust - YouTube[/ame]

Q300 isn't bad either, i think it's a bit louder based on the videos i've seen.

Pretty much any catless header is going to be quite loud during cold start. A tune can quite easily fix this though.

Not a valid reason to modify a vehicle.
