That hood line and the tall fenders kill it for me.
Saw a charcoal gray one yesterday. It's kinda fugly in person. I hope Fiat does better with the nose and rear.

That's actually what I'm waiting for too. 124 with retractable hardtop. Maybe an Abarth version. We'll see. 86 ain't going anywhere though. Only the Supra would be a suitable replacement, not a Miata platform.

Did anyone see that the new Scion iA sedan is based on the Mazda 2?

Autoblog.com drove it. They seemed to like just about everything about it except for:
1. The front grille (they call it a gaping maw)
2. The lack of power (but they recognize this is no sports sedan)

Other than that what they loved were:
1. The price. They thought it to be a great bargain @ $16k
2. It's super lightweight @ 2300 lbs.
3. They loved the shifter
4. The cargo space
5. The mileage (42 MPG)

Personally I don't think the nose is all THAT bad. Especially in a darker color. With some suspension work and tuning, the car could be a fun little sporty sedan. Of course, there are better bargains to be had used, but if you need a new cheap car. This one ain't half bad.

Unfortunately, there is no more Mazda2 in the US. I was kinda looking forward to seeing it get the Skyactiv engine.

The more I see pictures the more I wish they had not tried to make 'aggressive' headlights. If they had just made them a bit bigger and rounder and doe-eyed... Like they wanted to and then last minute nope, just look at the downturn of the hood as it approaches either side, that all should have been filled up with headlight.

YES! It looks squinty eyed and weird because of it. Reminds me of a kit car where they throw a projector in and throw a piece of clear plastic over it cause headlights are expensive... If I had photoshop installed I'd scale them up a bit to see what they look like a bit bigger, but I bet it would look much better.

Miatas are supposed to look like hyperactive adorable puppies!

This one looks like a cat you just sprayed with a water bottle.
