A dime dent in my bumper to a hit and run, drunk driver, costed me $950.

Ridiculous, I'll probably just let it stay there and call it a battle scar
I could get half a house painted for that money

I have gotten rear-ended 2 times. Actually, my car is at the body shop right now getting fixed for the 2nd crash. Both times, there were literally a few scratches. From a few feet away, you wouldn't even be able to tell it was hit. It looked way better than yours does now. First time, $8000 cost to fix. This time, $6700. Yours probably doesn't have much or any damage behind the bumper but mine was completely smashed in to the trunk. Just unbelievable damage.

Yep. They are designed to sacrifice themselves to keep you safe. It works.

Wait, your bumper looked better than mine before the fix? How much did that individual part cost, and your fixed are more than half the cars worth

Yes my bumper looked barely touched. But it totally depends how they hit you. If they were just slowly dragging their car along your car, you probably don't have any damage other than what you can see. But it might have some broken clips or something and it is not aligned like it should be. From what I can see on my estimate, the rear bumper cover costs $270. But I don't think you will need to replace yours. Is that what you were asking for?

try calling garageworks in hayward. I've gotten my bumpers painted there before and it just cost me $200 and paint match was perfect

If you purchased the car knowing you wouldn't be able to pay for repairs, nothing you can really do. I'd just leave it until you can afford it.

It's not that I can't afford it, it's just heartbreaking to have to drop 10% of a months paycheck/allowance cause some idiot did some dumbass move in 10seconds

find some hill that has traffic light.
when light turns green, let your car roll back and hit a car behind you.
claim that car hits you, get free bumper paint.

for suggestion, i will order new bumper and get it painted then sell that old bumper on forum to save few bucks.

Holy fucknutsery batman. Seriously though it really shouldn't be that much especially in the US(although color matching whites is a bitch) . Hell for 1800 cdn$, on my IS300, I had my bumper painted, fender straightened and painted, all the gaps straightened, trunk floor redone and rad support straightened.
