It's been done at a local club autoX flying really high. I actually didn't even notice is was there until footage was posted. But it as super high. Just big aerial shots.

The costs of insurance and all that other stuff will come down once drones are used for more things and have been around longer. Just give it a few years.

What caster angle are y'all at for events? I am going to be installing new caster/camber plates that can provide a significant amount of caster and I don't want to add too much caster, if I don't need it.

Stock. I've seen where some will add 1°. Gotta be careful with caster, it helps turn in but too much causes bump steer

Question Aftermarket intake systems ?

Is the Grimmspeed intake system or similar brands worth the expense for STX?
Will I notice any real acceleration benefit on top of headers and a tune? DP

Only with a tune. Really only a header is beneficial due to it killing the torque dip. The added HP is a plus and it seems the grimspeed intake helps raise that to

I have the Grimmspeed intake...not sure if it did anything but it's got that beautiful fit and finish we've come to expect from Grimmspeed. As said above a header will make the real difference...I'm on the fence between being quicker around the cones and being quieter around the neighborhood so I haven't pulled the trigger on a header just yet. They're pricey too, I keep checking the classifieds...

Biggest power gains on this car are header, tune, and a decent air filter. After that you're getting diminishing returns on your money.

Wasn't your car for sale? It would be nice if that's no longer the case and we'll see you out this summer.

IMO I'd put the intake money toward a good header and tune. This is assuming your suspension and tires are sorted.

Yes it is still for sale, just trying gain a better understanding of cost / benefit on performance parts available for the twins. Right now the car is stuck 1/2 way between C street and STX in terms of prep (not good). DP

I got a really good deal on the new RacerX intake, which looks a lot like the Grimmspeed. RacerX has about 15 prototypes they ditched and a long blog post about it on their website so it wasn't a direct copy, I think just two good companies coming to about the same conclusions.

That being said, it's totally not worth the price/performance gain vs. just a drop in air filter.

First event with my car in proper STX trim yesterday and I love it! Much obliged to this thread/subforum for the guidance. Just a practice event (i.e. a day of fun runs) but did about 18 runs and everything worked great.

Only bad part was because of so few drivers we were running nearly back-to-back runs and the oil temps were higher than I'd like. I just finished installing a Perrin oil cooler that I already had already purchased and sitting on the shelf, so I think everything is ready to go now.

Thats pretty normal actually LOL!

How people are modifying these cars from what I'm seeing is somewhere between C-street and STX. Going full STX is expensive, but if you go FI and SM its infinitely worse!

Unless you are going for full nationals competition, don't worry if you don't go with a legit 100% all out STX build.

Stock brakes, header, cooling, bushings, etc...

A competitive STX car doesn't need a lot of extra mods... 2014 winning car didn't even have race seats or brakes. Pretty sure it didn't have all the power mods either, running on KW v3 with custom spring rates.
