Last time I took my car to the dealership was because the TOB was going out, and I mentioned the grinding noise to the service guy, he ended up telling me they couldn't replicate the sound and I left it at that.

So I left the car at the dealership and they said maybe the grinding at low rpms was caused by a bad clutch 🤔

This specific low rpm "grinding," is this when shifting into gear, or is it just rolling on the throttle?

They did, but they also took it for a drive to confirm the problem. |

That's not grind. That's gearbox rattle from the engine lugging.

Synchros going bad?
Quote:
I didn't get to check transmission fluid. So I'm driving the wrong way? The car didn't make that sound before the TOB was replaced though, it started AFTER it was replaced. If I want to avoid that grinding/rattling sound I have to get it up to 2.5k-3k rpms before releasing the clutch. Before the TOB was replaced I used to get it to 1.5k and slowly release the clutch. Oh and this is from neutral to 1st we're talking. |

I'm not sure of anything at this point. I see what you mean about starting out in first. Maybe it's clutch chatter?
Like humfrz said. Have the fluid checked. Show them the grind/chatter. Do that first. After that, if you can make/post a recording, I'd be glad to give it a listen. Beats spitting into the wind. edit: oh, I see you posted earlier. New transmission. Good.
