Long story about getting the hood sticks secured in place and the hood fitted. (Roof bows and roof.) Finally modified and mounted the sticks. The roof took a few days longer but now is up. Switching Lotus logos to Caterham. Trying to get the mirrors positioned so I can see behind me and then fix them so they don’t move. I think I’m going to have to find another type/style of side mirrors. The Spa mirrors that came with the car will not stay in place and do not have proper mirror glass. The special “for sevens only” multi panel rear view mirror shows the front bumper of cars that are too close. If I try to see farther back I only see the roll bar. Adjusting things like seats, (easy you’d think) and figuring out if I can move the pedals. Will have to get an expert to go over the DOCE Webers as it is running rich. As I drive it more I’m sure other things will pop up.

Like any hobby/sport the tinkering and tweaking is part of the fun. Even when it becomes frustrating. Right now I'm upset with the weather 'cause I had planned to attend a local Auto Flea Market and car show this weekend. But Mother Nature has other plans...

I had carbon fibre mirrors, sleek and not as big as the standard stuff..

BTW, have you tried getting into the car with the roof up?

Oh yeah... Just finished a couple of stories for Caterham and Lotus 7 Club UK as well as USA7's about our fun getting the hood up and then getting in and out.
By the end of summer we'll either be in great flexible condition or in hospital.

Yep, there is a "way".. Once you know, you know.. I had quick release steering wheel, it helped! Fun watching people trying to figure out how to get in..

As for Exige, I remember one of my colleagues, portly chap, he got in (fell in) and then was stuck!! I was thinking roof off extraction may be required to get him out!!!

Oh, Caterham footwell is really tight too.. racing boots/shoes a must otherwise hitting the brake when trying to depress the clutch is very likely..

Yes with the hood up the door opening is much smaller and you have to lift your feet, legs and body over the side and then down into the foot well.
The Exige has that wide sill to get over but a larger opening. Now if you had a full roll cage like the F1 then that might pose more of a problem. Even with the side impact bars not as high a the sides of the Caterham it was still tricky to get into.

You're in one of those v6 giant Exige.

The vertical doorway opening on my Exige is 22 inches.

The Elise/Exige tub is generous, legs have some space to move.. in the Caterham, no such thing.. very narrow foot well.. gotta be black belt yoga master to enter the car with some dignity..
