Cricket Sound Poll AFTER October 2016 TSB completed

So some confusion still exists that this TSB helps and some said they still get crickets after the October 2016 TSB. Hopefully this poll will help those decide wether it's worth their wile to get this done or just leave as is. I figure after a year we should have a good idea of the effectiveness of this "Redesigned" Pump.

Simple question; Do you still hear crickets AFTER getting the latest pump as listed in the October 2016 TSB? FOR 2013- (early) 2016 CARS ONLY

Yes. I got them to go away with three ounzes per fill up of Idemitsu Premix for Mazda rotarys I had sitting around from my 7 and 8.

Been 6 months now on the redesigned fuel pump and no crickets. When the dealership is going to work on your car, you have to either print the TSB for them or let them know there is a recently revised one. If you don't, they may refer to the older TSB with the older style pump. It almost happened to me. I personally had to talk to the lead tech and let him know what's going on. Toyota rarely works on these cars and hardly check up on new TSBs for Scion.

Maybe this is going to be too hard to do here. Is there any other way to ask this question and get real answers because I am thinking that 5 out of 11 so far really are not actually sure what happened to their cars.
In fact if I believe with a poll like this and we ask "what color is your car" we may end up with people answering that they like green shirts or brown dogs.

For the record I had the pump changed out I believe around December and afterwards no crickets have returned.

Mine is starting to sound like a mild case of crickets, definitely not as bad as before.

About 9k on the new HPFP.

My '16 had terrible crickets about 300 miles after driving it off the dealer lot. Even through the winter. The redesigned fuel pump was installed about 4 months ago and the crickets have not returned, but the pump does get louder when it kicks on at idle. It's just a much louder ticking sound, though, instead of the cricket chirp.

I'll second this. About 8k now since replacing the pump in November. The crickets are back, but they sound like they've been muffled.

That isn't the pump. That is the injectors changing over. The pump is cam driven and on all the time so it doesn't kick in at idle.

Yeah, the DI injectors are noisy for sure, but always have been. This new noise is the pump. You're right, it isn't because the pump is 'kicking on', but just like when the crickets would only come on at idle when the direct injectors started firing, the new pump makes a loud mechanical noise instead. My point is, for those pondering the new pump TSB, the pump is still noisy (as most, if not all, HPFPs are), but it isn't crickets.

My improvised fix was after the TSB pump started chirping three months after the January replacement. Hopefully that's more clear.

It's been about 6 months since my last fuel pump replacement in Jan. No crickets since. I've also only used Shell 91oct...except for several occasions I had to use some other generic gas but no issues at all!

they returned worse than they were within 900 miles. sitting at a light is embarrassing. The fact that the chiing is worse (using Shell 91 octane) makes me want to blow the damn car up. A new car (~12500 miles) should not be making these sounds. especially since it's been going on from 2013.

Go to the dealer and have them do the pump again.
