2017+ Toyota vs Subaru handling differences
I know that pre MY17 FRS and BRZ were set up differently from the factory in terms of handling. Is it the same with 2017+ cars? I heard somewhere that from 2017 they're set up the same way, but just wanted to double check.
Also, are there any differences in the way traction/stability control or ABS operate? |

The 17+ abs module is way more lenient with it's TC interference. It's a popular swap on the pre facelift cars.

I believe so in the later cars. Not 100% sure.

My recollection was that it was really only the 2013 FRS that differed much in suspension set-up. I thought I remembered them phasing in new spring rates and bars starting in 2014 to mimic the BRZ's 'more neutral' handling..
Closest confirmation I can find.. "The FR-S is known for its outstanding dynamics, which are taken to a new level for 2015. The 2015 Scion FR-S features better handling and stability thanks to a more rigid front suspension and re-tuning of the rear shock absorbers. The improved damping results in less body roll and a more communicative driving experience. For better aerodynamics, the smooth look of a shark-fin antenna replaces the pole antenna found in previous models. The exhaust tips are now larger and more flush with the rear bumper. Inside the vehicle, drivers will notice the addition of auto on/off headlights and an updated interior panel with a carbon fiber look, as well as a new key design. The 2015 Scion FR-S MSRP is $24,900 with a six-speed manual transmission or $26,000 with a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and Dynamic Rev Management® technology. Steel replaces Argento as a sleek silver color and Whiteout has been replaced by Halo, a pearl white available for an additional $395 fee."

My understanding is that with the 17+ facelift the Twins more or less converged the handling characteristics so they are similar if not the same.
The pre-facelift cars had a much more pronounced difference. scion was more tail-happy, BRZ more neutral, and the Scion got less tail-happy each year until the 17+ facelift. |
