FR-S/BRZ vs 2011+ Mustang V6

Now I know another thread, Here , has asked the question, but it seems the thread stopped short. Based on what seems to be circulating, a new V6 mustang with the sport package at $25,000 US is right in the price range of the BRZ.

Reasons to compare the two:
-Both of these cars have LSD's (the sport package includes a 3.31 rear LSD on the mustang).
-Same price range
-Classic battle of trade offs (Power vs Handling)
-Both Nat Aspirated

BRZ Advantages:
-Lighter
-Smaller
-Way Cooler Looking **Biased statement**
-Lower CoG

Mustang V6 Advantages:
-More Power
-More Rubber (255/40)
-Bigger Brakes

In my biased opinion, I like the BRZ better, but I can see how for almost the same price, one might make the argument for the Mustang. Thoughts?

As a sidenote, I heard that the new V6 mustang has the transmission from the V8, which should allow one to increase power without upgrading transmission for a while. Can anyone verify this?

Both cars are pretty sweet in their own way, but it's worth noting that you can even swing a GT with the sport pack in the BRZ price range if you order using truecar.com

Unfortunately we can't get any deals like that for the BRZ or FRS :/.

You forgot to put for the Mustang more space in the rear seats and trunk.

Even better, for the next week or so, $3k cash back on the '12 GT puts it at about $25k! ('13 Stang comes out this spring with some minor changes)

But the Stang is getting a complete redesign in another year or two. So maybe BRZ vs '15 Stang will be something to watch.

I prefer BRZ because the driveshaft won't explode under load....

Worthwhile read about the realities of owning one (well, a GT), beyond the specs:

Only the V6 suffers from this. There is plenty of reasons why the V6 sport package Mustang is so cheap in comparison to every other RWD coupe.

It's a $650 fix, which isn't that costly for unlocking the vehicles full potential.

FRS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> mustang. Just not my kind of car.

Edit: test driven only mustang GT (2011).
Haven't driven either FRS or Mustang V6. = fair comparison?

Sorta like what I said about the Ford Focus ST on the other thread. On paper the Mustang is a great car. For what they're asking for it, even better. It's just that when I sat in a few at the auto show the quality of the interior, or the lack of, just slaps you in the face. I know that it's got great power and even handles great now, but I still have to live with it every day and it just simply is not there yet IMO. If they can bring up the quality of the materials (inside and out) up a notch they would be in the hunt. As it stands now, it's just will always be the "cheaper" alternative.

sometimes i wonder if people actually ever drive the cars they praise or criticize. i havent driven the v6 but the gt is awesome. yeah its big but it dances well and the interior isnt that bad. one huge up side to the mustang is that its already out in the public. we know what we get
